It's always nice to have a relaxed commander in chief, IMO!

After 16 vacations in 3 years I hope he is relaxed. I hope he is relaxed and with out a job for now on.

Bush spent an entire THIRD of his presidency at his ranch. Don't remember people being mad about that.

the improving presidential approving rating(back over 50%)....

so if "non-taxpayers" make up over 40% of the US citizenship & Obama's ratings teeter at 50 %...
he is now supported by 10 % of the working class .

    sounds about right .blackeye

I don't know. Must poll between Obama vs Romney or Santorum are within the margin of error. Also $6 gas is on the way. Lots of time and I think people say the Gop can't win bc that's what they say on the liberal news.

Bingo. If the GOP is within striking distance now, I can only imagine they will close the gap once the primary (in-fighting) is over.
5-6$ gas, his opposition to the Keystone pipeline and 8+% unemployment (well over 10% if you don't cook the books) will be hard issues for Obama to overcome (even with every non-Fox media outlet in the tank for him).

Do you think the job Obama is doing and has done warrants him for taking 16 vacations and having the rock and roll HOF at his house every other week?

First off, I'm an independent. I don't hold allegiance to either one of those walking f***-ups. However, I do try to see things realistically. I'm glad we are not anywhere near somewhere bad we could have been, but Im optimistic we are seeing better things. From a position of once being a staunch supporter back in '08, Obama has been very dissappointing the change department. He's been a little too center-right for my tastes. On your definition of trying times, the economy is about to turn the corner and that's freaking awesome. From a social or cultural standpoint, I think that debate should be talked about later. The most trying thing we have at hand is the debt, but neither party nor a single politician I have heard is LEGITIMATELY serious about lowering the debt to GDP ratio(which really matters not the actual size). What no politician will tell you is that we are going to have to cut defense spending, make changes to social security and Medicare, spend close to 3 trillion dollars in the next decade on infrastructure and have taxes raised on EVERYONE(see tax rates in the 50s under Eisenhower). After WWII, we saw the need and responsibility to lower the debt to GDP ratio and we did it. I sadly don't think anyone can seriously in this day and age of politics come to that conclusion. That is the most trying thing we face.

I totally agree with you on SS and Medicare. Do away with SS. I'm paying into something I'll never see. F that. Do away with it.

Infrastructure. Infrastructure and more Infrastructure. Thats the big word to me as well. Millions of Jobs would be created. Untold amounts of money sunk back into the economy. Its the name of the game in my mind.

But the economy is not as close to turning the corner as some thinks. Still a ways to go.

I'm calling it right now: unemployment to 7.4 by September. Down to about 6.4 by summer 2013. Just a feeling.

Almost every economic indicator bedsides housing is accelerating. If housing would be/would have been a focus, I think we would have been in the position we are now about last year this time(dont get me started on the deficit talks and how that affected the economy). The only reason Fed and investment bank reports on the future are iffy is because of the effect of the global market. I think they take Europe way too seriously in these reports. Now, if any of the PIIGS defaulted, then yea that would hit us hard, but I really think the economy is about to hit that turn. I'm thinking about 275k added in February and unemployment down to 8.1 come first Friday in March, but then again Im just an optimist and a third-year finance and international business major. Haha.

  • Agh, I got sucked into the political talk again. IMO, Obama is a big gov't, big spending, war mongering, liberty destroying, tyrant. He is in bed with banks and corporations and is in over his head on the economy. The national debt continues to go crazy, and the spending and government programs continue to increase. He signed the NDAA into law and has authorized the assassination of a US citizen without due process of law. If you don't know about the NDAA, you better 'axe' somebody because some of the provisions of that bill are flat out scary. Not only did Obama not deliver on his campaign promise to shut down Gitmo, but through the NDAA, US Citizens who "support terrorism" can now be scooped up from their homes by the military in the good ole USA and delivered to Gitmo to be detained indefinitely without due process of law. Of course Obama said his administration would not enforce the law like that against citizens, but that's why we have the Enemy Expatriation Act floating through the legislature now which will allow DC to strip your citizenship without due process of law and then send you to Gitmo as a non-citizen to be detained indefinitely. All the while without you being given the right to ever see a Judge. The TSA and Homeland security get more and more invasive and powerful, and the list goes on and on and on. That being said, Obama is not the only person deserving of blame because the legislature keeps feeding him bills that compound the destruction of our once great nation.

So the repubs are our only hope right? Not necessarily. Romney, Gingrich and Santorum are not that far off from Obama on big gov't, big spending and liberty destruction, they just want to spend the money differently. Santorum put on a nice clinic last night about how much he likes to spend. Romney is the same and he and Santorum soundes like a couple of ducks quacking back and forth at each other on stage last night. Paul and Newt are the 2 most intelligent and knowledgeable candidates in the race, who at least make substantive points. I don't like a lot of Newt's substantive points, but I can at least respect the fact that he is a smart guy and is making informed decisions on his positions. To me, Paul is the clear choice. He wants to restore power back to the people, return to the constitution, eliminate the FED and stop the absurd spending that is going on. Of course Paul won't win for many reasons, but I think he is our only hope this go 'round.
