Obama at the CMT awards

  • It also has to do with the fact he's black. I've heard some of my older relatives say they wouldn't vote for him, simply because he's black. And don't forget about the owner of the Georgia Peach Oyster Bar who posted a sign outside of the bar reading "I do not support the n*gger in the White House."

I'm certainly not saying that about anyone on this board, but unfortunately that kind of mindset exists still.

  • you can respect the office or even the position but it doesnt mean you have to respect the person in said office / position ; I feel a certain way about President Obama and everyone that is close to me knows exactly the way i feel about the man but i try not to be outwardly offensive towards others that might feel the opposite of me shrug

There are also many that voted for him only because he's black.

All crap aside, I don't think Obama is a terrible person. I think he is a puppet that sold his soul to get to where he is. I don't trust him, just like any other politician.

Probably the same amount of people who didn't vote for him because he wasn't white.

Which is my point. Race shouldn't have a thing to do with it. He was not qualified to become president, he didn't have enough experience. Romney is no better though, so I don't know who to vote for. It's sad that we can find a decent candidate this day in age.

What do you mean by clown? That man is the President of the United States. You would think that a military man such as yourself would be able to understand that and give him proper respect.

Fwiw, Military personnel don't respect Barack.

Seems odd since he has done a better job military and in foreign affairs than Bush did, who had magnificent support.

I am sadly aware of that reality. I just think that military personnel who fail to show the president proper respect are displaying a destructively hypocritical attitude.

So the people that serve this country have no right to give their opinion? As for me, I'm a veteran, so I can say whatever the hell I want.

Of course you have a right to your own opinion; everyone does. That doesn't mean it isn't disrespectful to say certain things about the president. In the words of the Apostle Paul, "Everything is permissible, but not everything is beneficial."

And that's really sad. Out of all the people in this country, I would hope that our servicemen and women would have been the last place to lose such a dignity as respect for that office. I guess no one takes an oath seriously anymore.

Why don't you tell that to the people holding the office, they stopped caring a long time ago. Service men and women follow orders, but that doesn't mean they have to respect the man in office. Respect is earned. Do what he says? Yes. Respect? No. Get off your high horse.

Yes obey and then when you add in that with according to regulations and the Code of Military Justice, respect for the position of all ranking officers above you is included.

I come from a military family. I know the drill. I find it more disgusting when our armed forces play politics. That goes for all ranks.

And why do you feel that people holding the office stopped caring? Give me an example of how they cared more in the past.

I would say becoming the President of the United States of America qualifies as earning respect. Whether you like the guy or not, the things that someone like that must accomplish just to get in that position is worthy of respect, IMO.
