Obama to take off...

  • Will take $4million dollar vacation for three weeks to Hawaii for Christmas. Not only will he likely be in in Hawaii when we fall off the cliff, but the man who hates rich people will spend $4million of our money to go on vacation.

To read more about the adventures of His Majesty King Obama I, click the link below.

Oh and BLF nearly all of Bush's vacations were to Camp David and his Crawford ranch and cost nowhere near as much as what the Obama's spend on theirs including this one. Also whatever his predecessors did doesn't justify anything he does, so don't use that lame argument either.

  • Actually, Bush spent over $20M on flights alone back and forth to his ranch, not counting security and administrative costs.

Bush Spent 5 Times More On Flights To Texas Than Obama‘s Christmas Vacation Costs

Those who criticize the cost of Obama’s Christmas vacation dont want you to know that George W. Bush spent at least $20 million taxpayer dollars just on flights to his ranch in Crawford.

Over eight years. And Bush wouldn't have left DC during something like this cliff crisis. And again doesn't matter what anybody else did, doesn't make it any better.

  • I think the costs are irrelevant because presidents always cost money and I disagree he, personally, shouldn't go on vacation, but neither should any of congress either (and I'm sure they will).

By the way, if they don't get it done by 1/1/13, it won't be the end of the world. It will look bad, but won't actually be bad. The longer they wait though, the worse it gets. So I wouldn't necessarily act like there is some diabolical deadline that will result in a "cliff". It's actuall more of a slope.

  • By the way, I think an agreement will be met and details pending before Christmas. Probably wont see an actual vote until after New Year's though unless things quicken up.

The timing still couldn't be worse and the President cost way too much. In one year we spend like $1.7 billion on the president and his family...whereas the British spend like $5o+ million on the ENTIRE Royal Family. Our presidents are traveling far too much and getting too many perks.

Besides maybe doing an audit, I'm not sure what else can be done. The president has to travel. shrug

Not to Hawaii he doesn't. And why the hell is he doing campaign like stops after being re-elected? The only places a President needs to go are the White House, International summits, foreign trips for business purposes...and that's it.

    "Over eight years."

Wait, so a total of at least $20M spent on vacations is fine, as long as it's spread out more?

"And Bush wouldn't have left DC during something like this cliff crisis."

Really? The president who was on vacation for almost 3 years (1,020 days) of his 8-year term? Obama has used 78 vacation days since he took office. He's on pace to match about 15% of the vacation days Bush took.

"And again doesn't matter what anybody else did, doesn't make it any better."

Wait, so here it doesn't matter what anyone else did, but when we're talking about increases in the national debt, it does matter that debt has risen X amount under Obama as opposed to Bush or anyone else?

We are talking 4 million for one vacation here...4 million! And again all that matters right now is what Obama does, you can make all the comparisons to Bush all day but is doesn't mean s***. Obama can change his mind and save the country 4 million dollars, Bush can't do anything now about the money he spent except apologize and some good that would do us.

Bush is no longer the President, Obama is.

It's pretty common for presidents to stump around the country to pressure certain politicans and push their side for a bill.

They shouldn't have done it either, and a little consideration for the times seems warranted.

Common or not it's a waste, this isn't 1900 were a President needed to travel around to be heard. This stumping is outdated and wasteful.

  • Who cares who spent more, they both spent way too much on vacations they didn't deserve. We want to find easy cutbacks? Cut back the benefits of the president and all politicians in DC.

I understand everyone needs a break every now and then and that the President is only human. But when you take this office you get to be the most powerful man in the world for at least four and no more than eight years. You get the opportunity to etch your name forever in history and set a country of 300 million+ on a different course based off your ideas.

That's an incredible benefit. And it only requires at most 8 years of your time.

In addition you get to live in a fabulous house and are waited on hand and foot everyday.

So for just eight years seems you could cut back on some things, if you want to get away, hop in Marine One and head to Camp David.

I'm just confused why this is such a big deal when other presidents have taken more vacation time, travelled more, and spent more money than Obama is now. Are presidents not allowed a vacation if the economy is struggling?

What bothers you more, the fact that this vacation is costing $4M, or the fact that it's Obama who's causing the spending of this money?
