Obama to take off...

That doesn't seem obscene in my book. Someone talked about how in today's world stump speeches are obsolete. Well in today's world, the President is always up to date with the happening in DC and around the world. He maybe on "vacation", but it isn't a "vacation" that we would be taking. He doesn't drop everything and forget about "work", he is still involved. Don't be naive.

Well all that is pretty obvious and is something we are all aware of. What you don't seem to get is that it cost several hundred thousand dollars or more for each one of those stump speeches, depending on where they are.

And 4 million is a ton of money for a vacation. Lol. I can't believe you actually said that.

I have no problem with the cost. Considering what it takes for him to take a vacation, I am fine with it. The cost of security for him and his family is worth it.

Yes, that's how that works. Each taxpayer has a line-item veto over any federal spending.

wouldn't that be sweet. We would get out of debt real quick

This entire thread is stupid. The only reason it exists is because Barack Obama is in the White House. I'd be willing to bet that if Mitt Romney had won the election, you wouldn't have made this thread.

All you're doing is looking for anything to attack Obama on because you're still upset about the election.

Wait what? Because the criticism is mounted by those you perceive to be looking for issues to criticize, the criticism has no legitimate substantive basis?

The cost associated with his vacation is why he should reconsider the length and location of it.

There are worse things to cry about. The President and his family can/should vacation where they want. The cost of security for his family is worth it.

  • I always think this is a football board but somehow keep forgetting it's a board for stupid political opinions... pukeface

  • The $4 million needs to be taken into context that the President has to take all his business, portions of his staff, security, of course his family and everything he needs to work from a satellite location.

As much as I know that the US will face another recession in 2013 and I feel Obama will not be able to successfully negotiate falling off the cliff - even the President should be able to go home to Kenya..... Whoops - I mean Hawaii.

I'm just confused why this is such a big deal when other presidents have taken more vacation time, travelled more, and spent more money than Obama is now. Are presidents not allowed a vacation if the economy is struggling?

What bothers you more, the fact that this vacation is costing $4M, or the fact that it's Obama who's causing the spending of this money?

I think the difference is Obama takes vacation while calling it "work" while Bush would actually take his vacation at his ranch.

Face it, Obama doesn't treat being President like a job, he has no idea what a job is anyway.

  • When you're the President of the United States, a vacation is just working in a place with better weather. There's no sillier thing than arguing about a president's vacations, no matter who's president.

I love the "Well Bush spent more, so it's okay" argument. It's not okay, and they all suck.

    This^^^

What does it matter if Bush spent $20M? Why are Democrats still so caught up on George Bush? If he was so bad and you hate him so much, why constantly compare Obama to Bush? Is he the gold standard on what a President should do? Bush defined Obama's 1st term as much as Obama did. It's getting a little old.

  • Not only that, in 4 years when our country is further in the crapper, does anyone think that Obama will take the blame or do you expect the Democratic Party and the biased media to still blame Bush? It's a rhetorical question, we all know the answer already. Hopefully, the Obama Administration can turn things around so he doesn't have the opportunity to blame Bush.

Actually our economy has continued to improve at a steady rate under Obama. Unemployment down to 7.7

shrug Yeah, I'll admit I didn't look at the dates on the articles. That's my bad.

Still, he's delayed his vacation to settle year-end business for two years in a row. If past behavior is any indication, he'll probably do it again.

No, but it is still Bush's economy that he inherited. Let's say for teh sake of argument, your mom tells you to clean your room. Your brother was just in there and he took all your clothes out of the closet and threw them on the floor, emptied your trash onto the floor, and generally fucked it up. You start to clean the mess that your brother made and your mom comes back in and starts yelling at you that your room isn't clean, then she leaves and comes back 5 minutes later and yells at you again that your not cleaning your room. You say "my brother made this mess and I'm trying to clean it up" But that's not good enough for mom, she wants it cleaned yesterday and says "boy you've been cleaning this room for 15 minutes and it is NOT clean" Is it your fault or your brothers that the room isn't clean??

Edit: my bad, that was a little OT. I shoulda read through the thread and your entire postlol

And I suppose you know better, right? You're not going to fall for that left-wing propaganda that the economy's getting better! 146,000 new jobs? Bah. Lies. We should all be as smart and in-the-know as TroyTide, because he knows what's really going on with the economy.
