Odds of NCAA athletes going pro

I knew the odds of college athletes becoming professional athletes were really low, but I had no idea they were as low as they truly are. I guess it also makes sense the best chance to get there is via baseball...

98.3% of college football players don't go pro.
Good thing these kids aren't going to college for an education or anything.

Most college athletes go professional in something other than sports.
ECU grad, tOSU fan for life. Father since 1/12/13.

Well baseball has like 300 rounds so of course it is easier to go pro in that sport.

Well that and the minor league system....but all in all these stats are shocking. I wonder what the % is of high school kids becoming NCAA D-1 athletes.

And what percentage of divison 1 football players from BCS programs go pro?
Just curious and I figure you have those stats in front of you.

What's alarming is the amount of kids and parents of 14-17 year old boys who think their son will go pro.

Well I want to know a couple things:
In Ice Hockey who do they consider for the High school players, and also the College players. Do they factor in Canadians? Because the OHL and the other Canadian junior hockey leagues often grab a fair amount of NHL draftees away from colleges because they are able to get paid there while experiencing competition.
In Football, what is the breakdown between D-1 and all colleges, and then BCS vs. D-1.
They sure are interesting statistics, but I want to know further how they got all this information and how it is when not in the aggregate.
