Off Topic Ramblings....

  • -Does anyone else feel old seeing the Christmas Vacation crew, complete with a white-haired Clark Griswold, in an Old Navy commercial? Julliet Lewis looks the same, though. I've always had a thing for her since Natural Born Killers and this obscure Kathryn Bigelow film called Strange Days.

    -On this gun control debate, I support the second amendment and all. That being said, I think that there should be a way to make sure guns don't get in the hands of the mentally ill. Just like you are required to take an eye exam before getting a driver's license, you should get a psyche evaluation before being allowed to purchase a gun. Of course, the cowards in Washington that run our country- you know, the ones that just want to chase skirt and get re-elected, will never compromise on this issue. There is zero leadership in congress right now. Their presence in Washington is a disgrace to the rest of us. That being said, they will continue to be re-elected because their opponent will be too afraid to lead and will follow some political playbook that eliminates any chance at someone decent replacing the pretenders that lead our country right now.

    -Watching that Amish Mafia show...it is horrendous. On Discovery.

    -Saw Lincoln during the weekend. Another great acting job by Daniel Day-Lewis. It was just a tick below what he did in There Will Be Blood and a tick above Gangs of New York. I think both of those actual movies are better than Lincoln as a whole.

    -I am going to be in Los Angeles for New Year's Eve. Anybody know of some cool things to do there that night? Staying in Anaheim near Disneyland (Semper Fi Bowl HQ).

    -Is Ghostbusters 3 still happening? Ghostbusters 2 is on and they just found out about the river of slime.

    -Three overrated 1990s bands/artists- Third Eye Blind, Barenaked Ladies, Foo Fighters

    -Three underrated 1990s bands/artists- Big Head Todd and the Monsters, The Cure, Widespread Panic.

  • Agree with almost all of this. 1. If I was in congress it would be to exclusively chase tail and 2. Daniel Day Lewis is a beast...him and Willem Dafoe are my favorite actors.

  • Would be shocked if the NRA went willingly on any gun restrictions, even after this crap. They're too myopic. I agree a psych exam is good. Also good would be restrictions on how easy it is to purchase a firearm at a gun show.

    Note: I am an independent, though I did vote for Romney in the last election.

    Rush has some decent ideas, but he's nothing more than the skip bayless of political talk radio. It's sad, but I don't trust any of them anymore, because none of them truly care about any of us. They are responsible to the donors that get them into office, and that's it.

    This is true. Life is too good for a member of congress or another elected official to risk being kicked out of office.

    Quite frankly, I don't think very many of them could survive in the working world, so they are all about surviving in their current state of no consequence and general tomfoolery.

    Same here. I sort of felt sorry for Romney because he came across so plastic like robo candidate, but I believe he would have done a good job working with all parties for solutions.

    That being said, second term presidents typically are more willing to compromise, so perhaps Obama will.
