made a bunch of excuses...of course they're young'...
5-7 is looking more probable than 9-3...their d line was disappointing and that was supposed to be a strength.

A 1-4 start will make those two straight road games to Oxford and Nashville much more important to the season. They have to win all three of OM,Vandy, and aTm, otherwise no bowl for the Barners. panic

That alone is worth the price of admission. At least we know where they get it from.

No 1-4 start.. Possible, but unlikely.

I agree. Going strictly by point spreads, Auburn should start 1-4 but I think Auburn will slip by Miss State this weekend and then beat ULM. I think they'll lose to LSU, badly, and then lose to Arkansas. 2-3 start is most likely, then 1-4, then 3-2.

Maybe I am homer, but I still think we have a decent chance of beating Arkansas assuming we can get past Moo State first. If we lose to them, then all bets are off.

Arkansas' defense is not very good...but neither is Clemson's and Auburn only managed 19 points on it. Auburn also gave up 528 yards to Clemson so I expect Arkansas' explosive offense to put up some real points. Clemson left several points on the field last Saturday too. I think Arkansas and Clemson are pretty similar in that they both have a lot of offensive weapons, dangerous QB's, but suspect defenses. The home field advantage will help AU immensely but I'm just not sure they have enough on offense to hang with Arkansas all game. I think it'll be close for a while but Arkansas will pull away in the second half. Something like 35-23 Arkansas?

The Hogs were pretty atrocious on the road last year though and that was with Petrino running the show so who knows? AU-MSU should be a good one though. My early prediction, worth nothing, is 20-17 Auburn.

Prob not. This next game could determine the rest of the season. Will be huge.

  • AU left a lot more points on the field than Clemson, had a costly turnover on a promising drive, had an obvious Clemson fumble overturned, and settled for four red zone fieldgoals... This could have been a route.

Same with Clemson though... They dropped a lot of balls and a few costly sacks and the route could have been on in their favor.

Auburn blew plenty of chances to score more points against as well. Trovon Reed was wide open for a touchdown in the 2nd quarter, but he stepped out of the back of the endzone completely on his own before the ball arrived. An easy touchdown became an incomplete pass and Auburn had to settle for a field goal instead. Fumbles, turnovers, penalties, and overthrown passes kept Auburn from scoring even more points and dozens of missed tackles led to Clemson scoring some or all of their points

True, but while Arkansas' defense isn't good by SEC standards I still think it's better than Clemson's. I still believe it will be hard for Auburn to keep up with Arkansas for 60 minutes. I just don't think they have enough on offense or defense to hang as I expect Arkansas to just keep coming at them and putting up points. I think Frazier will have to have a good day throwing the ball to keep Auburn in the game, to keep pace, and I just don't think he has that in him right now...I still think he's a very average passer. Having Dismukes back will help a lot though.

I think this weekend's game will tell us a lot more though as Auburn gets into SEC play.

Agreed. Arkansas looked to have trouble defending against Jacksonville St. over 320 yds of O for JSU 2/3 in the air and that does not bode well. Of course it could have just been first game stuff. Wilson was in Mid season form though. That will be the nemesis if EF and RT don't hurry up and get in there. Only thing I like is there is that he is not that mobile like Boyd and CL and DF will get to him. Davis had a fairly unremarkable day. I am not counting AU out of any just yet, although at present states, the IB and LSU games look to be completely uphill on a very steep grade.

But we will have the Home field advantage at JHW for the IB. biggrin

Didn't play, had a few bang ups late in camp, but he will probably only play ST. I don't see him at TB at all. They could work him in to some of the sweep type plays that OMac runs. Kid can absolutely motor...Trouble if he turns the corner.

He is hampering a small injury. Not expected to make much of an impact outside of special teams this year which is disappointing considering he got a lot of praise in the offseason and during the spring. Who knows though. Could have one game that puts him on the map.

As far as the Clemson game goes, I can't say I'm really shocked at much. New coordinators, new QB, new offensive line. I think we will be much improved this weekend and although we should always beat Miss State, they always give us a tough time.

Congrats on the massive ass whooping on Michigan by the way. I just keep telling myself that as bad as my weekend was, it was better than Floyd Mayweather's.
