As an eagles fan, this is first time ive been happy after their first round since they drafted maclin. Really like the Cox pick. Seems like a player. Should do well in Washburns system

Love the pick, fits the scheme perfectly.

When I say "throw away season", I mean no super bowl. Steelers fans think bigbiggrin

RB is also a concern of mine. Redman is not a starter in this league. He has the breakaway speed of Nate Newton.

I'm may be in the minority, but I am perfectly content with Redman this season, but I have no idea what to think about the the rest of the backfield. Dwyer, Clay, Baron Batch.

  • First round draft grades and it will keep getting updated as the draft continues this weekend.

And for Mountie and the rest of the Steelers fans out there...

    24. David DeCastro, G, Stanford: A+ Grade
Unbelievable. The Steelers somehow land a guy who could be the top guard in the NFL over the next decade. David DeCastro could have gone as high as No. 11. It's really amazing how smart organizations like Pittsburgh can take advantage of dumb teams making stupid decisions year after year. This is the best pick of the 2012 NFL Draft thus far.

  • Bump.

Rams might be going quick at 33, gotta think Fleener is the guy at 34.

I believe it's between Fleener and Upshaw. As a Colts fan, I'm fine with either choice.

  • If the Colts draft Fleener, Luck is going to have a lethal target and could create something similar to what Peyton had with Dallas Clark.

same. I wouldn't mind Glenn either because the oline is still a problem. Reyes to help the dline would work too.

  • I saw that the Cowboys are shopping Mike Jenkins because they drafted Claiborne. I would be extremely happy if Pittsburgh made a play for Jenkins. Offer them a 4th round pick or something. He would walk right in and start at the #2 corner position.

  • Colts should draft Upshaw. I like Fleener, but defense defense defense man. I don't know. That's a tough decision. I think I'd lean towards Upshaw. Can't really go wrong. Both should have been 1st rounders in my opinion.

I think the Rams will draft Glenn. As for DL, the Colts still have Freeney and Mathis at DE so DT would be the only real option for a DL draftee. I hope the Colts draft either Mike Brewster or David Molk in the later rounds, hopefully Molk though as he is a better OC.

Defense defense defense? Look back at the last 4 SB winners and tell me their total defense ranks.

  • If the Colts draft Upshaw, they should grab Dwayne Allen in the 3rd.

Ya I was talking about DT. We need size in the middle badly. I tired of seeing teams just run it down our throats and our offense just sitting on the side helpless.

There are a lot of problems on the defensive side of the ball, but they could be easily solved if the Colts grab a couple of space eaters and a powerful LB, which could be Upshaw.

  • Nice job by the Colts. Fleener was the logical choice there to help out Luck.

  • That would be cool to announce a pick.

    Complete fail on your part.

    I'll go last five.

NY Giants, twice. - what did they have over the Pats twice? DEFENSE. Their DL's in 2007 and 2011 were the difference.

Pittsburgh Steelers - they had the best defense in the NFL in 2009. Harrison & Woodley & Polamalu were the difference. Harrison returned an INT 100 yards for a TD in that game.

Green Bay Packers - they had the #2 total D in 2010, but #1 in forcing turnovers and sacks. How many sacks Clay have in the playoffs that year?

New Orleans Saints - they had a much better defense than the Colts. Their D was #1 in the NFL in creating turnovers. Tracy Porter also returned an INT 77 yards for a TD in that game.

Defense still wins championships. What's left of it at least.

Even more so is that all those Ds played lights out during their runs.

This. Defense is still king, and will always be king.
