THE HOBBIT Trailer HD - For more movie news and interviews go to http://www.collider.com Synopsis: "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" follows title character Bilbo Baggins, who is swept into an epic quest to reclaim the lost Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor, which was long ago conquered by the dragon Smaug. Approached out of the blue by the wizard Gandalf the Grey, Bilbo finds himself joining a company of thirteen dwarves led by the legendary warrior, Thorin Oakensheild. Their journey will take them into the Wild; through treacherous lands swarming with Goblins and Orcs, deadly Wargs and Giant Spiders, Shapeshifters and Sorcerers. Although their goal lies to the East and the wastelands of the Lonely Mountain first they must escape the goblin tunnels, where Bilbo meets the creature that will change his life forever ... Gollum. Here, alone with Gollum, on the shores of an underground lake, the unassuming Bilbo Baggins not only discovers depths ofguile and courage that surprise even him, he also gains possession of Gollum's "precious" ring that holds unexpected and useful qualities ... A simple, gold ring that is tied to the fate of all Middle-earth in ways Bilbo cannot begin to know. Lebron James will never be as good as Michael Jordan, thus we should get rid of his nickname, "The King".

I wonder where the cutoff point is going to be. Since they are making two.

I liked the Hobbit better than the Lord of the Rings so I can't wait for this movie.

  • Thanks for posting. With the subtitle "An Unexpected Journey", I assume this is Part 1?

Oh ok. It kind of looked like that elven woman from the trilogy? The one that always wore wight. I have forgotten her name

Yeah that is her. I am having trouble remembering her name as well. I need to read the books again to refresh my memory.

Galadriel, and yeah that's the same one. They're not getting it on, though, unless Jackson added some hardcore elven-wizard sex scene that Tolkien left out.

That would be rather weird lol. I guess his son could have made a few edits. The last scene where it shows the ring and smeagle is kinda giving me the notion that that is right before the trilogy? Like they shot that scene but it will be on the second movie. Am i way off here?

Would really add something to the film IMO.

The Hobbit takes place about 50 years before LOTR if IIRC.

I won't say for sure because I don't want to spoil anything.

  • I need to go back and read the book. I read it in 8th grade and that was a long time ago....so I'm very fuzzy on what happend. I liked it more than the LotR books

  • Finding the ring should be in this movie. It happens before the halfway point of the book IIRC. 60 years pass from the time Bilbo finds the One Ring and his 111th birthday ( when he gives it to Frodo).

  • Supposedly they added alot to this movie that wasn't in the book. They are bringing back alot of the characters from LOTR who were not in the book.
