Ohio State fired Nick Saban

nope, all the pre-poll era titles are as legit as anyone. they're all 4 rose bowl, undefeated teams (1 tied stanford 7-7 in the rose bowl, both schools claim it). everyone else who was undefeated rose bowl champs claims a title, so we do too.

the one that's bs is the 41 title. bama was 9-3, finished 2nd or 3rd in sec, and 20th in the polls. but for some stuid reason we claim it. wish we wouldn't.

a couple others are debatable, but many other schools have been in similar situations and they claim and catch no grief for it, so we claim. plus, they're all legit poll titles (coaches or ap), and it's hard to discredit them.

only the 41 title is a joke. all the others post 35 were major poll (ap, upi) titles...some were split, 64,5, 73.
the 20's and 30's titles were very legit...usually undefeated rose bowl titles.
stuff evens out 66 team got robbed...77 team as well.

osu, 1 title in 40 years and we all know miami got robbed...but hey, because tosu got bitch slapped in 2 bsc title games by the sec, this has allowed the rest of the country to see how crappy the big 10 is and how dominant the sec is...thx tosu

  • You do realize Saban is the reason Urban "retired" don't you? He cried, packed up his spread offense and Tebow underwear, and moved as far away as possible and into a new conference.

I'm sure Saban still wishes he was the OSU DB coach..

  • Just throwing this out there, but Penn State has done reasonably well against the SEC in general, minus the atrocity that was the last two seasons.

We beat LSU back in '09. Don't care if the weather blew, a win is a win. Thank you Les.

We beat UGa for one of our national titles as well.

I'm too lazy to look up career record, but I'm willing to bet it's a he'll of a lot better than blOhio's.

Don't flatter yourself. It was a combination of factors. Losing elite assistants, losing Timmy, and having to compete with Saban AND Jimbo (who beat him on and off the field) that he couldnt deal with.

Urban had just about every break a coach could get. When he stopped getting them, he blamed vagina spasms and quit...as Eddie Gran told Jimbo "He quit. Your boy quit".

Theres no shame in losing to Alabama. They are the best program in the nation right now. But getting trounced by Bama AND FSU (a very mediocre FSU at that)....not good.

Penn St is 16-19 against the SEC.

When Alabama is removed from the equation, Penn St is 11-9 against the rest of the league though.

tOSU is 4-11-1 against SEC teams......giving them credit for the Sugar Bowl against Arkansas.

There are 4 or 5 games not included in that record that were played against Vanderbilt and Kentucky before there was a SEC.

You've done all that since firing Saban?

Over/Under: Bama wins by 17.5 if they played OSU this year.

Then they're winning by 30.5 if they played PediSU

    Don't think so.

Can't wait for McMoxie to kick your ass again Buckeye.

Bama beat us by 16 this past season, with Rob Bolden and McGloin sharing time. Since then we've greatly improved our coaching staff, offensively at least, and didn't lose anybody major except for Devon Still.

Still better than Ohio State though, thank god.

  • I hate these kinds of pissing wars where the argument hinges on a superior team beating my team and the moron's team Im debating with. With that said, the 16 point loss your Nittany Cubs experienced last year is because Bama called off the dogs. EVERYONE knew that had Saban not respected your program/JoePa it would have gotten medieval. Kinda like when Pete Carroll called off the dogs when tOSU went to So Cal in 08.

You're team is decent but still not in a position to call out Buckeye fans. I don't see PSU winning a Leaders Division (none the less a B1G Title) for YEEEEAARRS to come.

  • *Nittany Lions
    *Your
    *none the less

Well, they ran TRich until four or five minutes left in the fourth, and didn't put in their second string their entire game, on offense or defense. Sure the play calling slowed down, but its not like they were scoring at will on us.

Sure we're good enough to call y'all out, we won last season and are fixing to win again this season.

Also, considering our toughest competition for the division is OSU and Wisconsin, I'll take our chances. The Legends division as a whole is far superior to the Leaders division, and that doesn't look like it will change as Wisconsin comes back to earth in the next several years.

Well, we can definitely guarantee one program that won't be winning the Leaders Division this year is tOSU.

I wouldn't discount Penn St, as they went through about the roughest year that a program could go through and still was 1 game from playing in the B1GCG.

  • Bottom line is you give Saban your school and three months and he could beat anyone. You know it, I know it so stop hating.

    Areu4ua1

  • The irony of Saban being fired following that game is the mere fact he was hired afterward by the team the Bucks played in the 1981 Liberty Bowl....Navy as a defensive assistant.

PediSU really isn't even relevant at this point (in regards to your football programscared). I'll give you a subtle hand clap for standing by such an abhorrent program but lets be honest here, do you clowns really see yourself coming out of the B1G?? Winning National Titles?? To be honest, if I were in your shoes I'd look on the bright side as well. Truth be told, between tOSU, CrapBadgers, and the $h!thole Up North, PediSU won't be in the upper echelon of the B1G any time soon. A solid program, sure. Just not in the discussion when the discussion hinges on National Titles (and such). Climb down from the clouds, my Nittany Cub friend. Your team/school/program just isn't considered elite.

huh? We are 2-2 against Ohio State last 4 years.... We have had the highest ranked B1G team since 2005 when we finished #3.... and we are recruiting as well as anyone in the B1G right now... We also had a staff putting in half effort and accomplished all of those things.... With an engaged staff again itll be like 1994 all over again... as a Buckeye I am sure you remember the 60+ points we put on you and the BEST BIG TEN TEAM EVER KICK YOUR ASS

I gave you an up vote simply because I appreciate how you stand by your mediocre team despite their true appeal. PediSU will NEVER be what tOSU is to college football...at least not in my life time. Do you honestly feel your school is on par with tOSU??? Wow!!!loco

How many Big Ten championships, do you guys have?

That's right as many as Northwestern. (In the same time frame; They actually have 8) lol

You're last outright Big Ten Championship was 1994.

Earle Bruce fired Saban after the Liberty Bowl in 1981. Saban was the DBs coach. The 1981 secondary is considered one of the worst in Ohio State's history.

I believe this is the only time Saban has been fired in his career.

so your saying the reason Bruce eventually was run out of town was because he couldnt recruit secondary talent
& he blamed his asst coaches letting them take the fall for his shortcomings ?

sounds like the guy from W.Georgia . lol

I like PSU but their fans shouldn't want to argue about Big Ten success. They were much more successful as an independent. I think a lot of that has to do with Joe Pa sticking around. If they can still sell their brand with their new coaching staff, then they'll be alright. PSU has largely been a sleeping giant under Joe Pa. It's bittersweet but PSU has the chance to really get back into the discussion.

I realize I'm a MSU fan and we've had our own struggles. I'm not here to criticize but that's how I see things.
