  • Over/Under on how many player arrests Meyer has while at Ohio State? I'll go with 20, over or under that?

Being called a sunshine blower is not insulting to me and I'm proud to be one.

Depends. Is he there 2 or 3 years?

    If 2, I'd say 20 is a good number, but 3 years, I'd go with 32.

  • These secondary violations are a joke, I dont care who the school is, even if it is the soon to be looking for another coach after urbs scuttles the buckeyes ship, while he jumps into a liferaft known as fake heart attack or ND football. Besides, its not like the ncaa has the stones to do anything, even if they were major violations.

  • Yeah, Alabama has done it for 17 years now.

shrug Saban has surpassed any length of time Urban has held a job. I doubt comparing arrest totals during their career would work anywhere close to Urban's favor either.

If the heart can't take Florida, I doubt any doctor would clear him to coach Notre Dame. That would like agreeing to take over the Titanic, after it hit the iceberg.

Personally I think tOSU is his last coaching job. I just think he likes the idea of coaching, but not the reality of it at a big time college program. No coach in their right mind leaves Florida for anything short of maybe the NFL, IMO.

    Huh?
Also im not comparing just saying Saban isnt coaching a bunch of Angels down there. Any coach is gonna have their issues with players off the field. I'm actually a huge Saban fan.

Not a flame but a serious question. Are you just allowed to have endless amounts of secondary violations? While on probation shouldn't you be hit with something when you have 40+?

Whats the point of reporting them if they don't mean anything? If you do not report them can the NCAA punish you? Is probation treated any different than non probation for minor stuff?

    http://www.freep.com/article/20120518/SPORTS06/120517083/ohio-state-urban-meyer-gene-smith-secondary-violations

Reporting them no matter how serious goes a long way in softening the blow for lack of institutional control and a repeat offender of this could be more subject to the death penalty so I would say they did the right thing.

I'm convinced that telling the NCAA to go F itself may be the best route to avoiding penalties. They have no teeth without the schools supplying them evidence by self reporting.

I understand your sentiment but hiding and covering up lies is where they hang you. If you do not tell, a rival school, disgruntled coach/player/employee/recruit can blow the whistle so if not reported and the NCAA finds out everybody knew about the violations then it hits the fan.

    Huh?

He wants the spotlight, but I'm not sure he wants to put in the work. Just my theory though. I see him back at ESPN in 5 years or so.

Could be wrong. When Saban came to Alabama, I admit I thought it was for 5-7 years and then he'd hang it up, hoping to pick up another championship along the way. Now, I would say he'll hit 10 years. All you have to go on is history. I don't blame Urban for leaving BG or Utah, those were smart moves, but leaving Florida at the first sign of adversity is hard to look past.

Florida and Texas are the best combinations of programs/facilities and recruiting bases there is. Leaving one of those two has to set off red flags. I don't care what someone says the reason was.

With that said, he should create some excitement and do well, but history is not on the side of lasting long, not did he leave his last program in great shape when he left.

The NCAA will never find out things on their own. They always get tipped off.

You have 2 choices. Hide it and hope nobody blows the whistle on you (SEC), or tell on yourself and hope the NCAA takes it easier on you.

But, you never know how the NCAA will do their punishments because they are too inconsistent.

May not be angels, but they stay out of trouble for the most part. Lack of discipline is not a good sign, IMO.

I don't just point out Urban's. Mark Richt is running a rogue program at UGA and the arrests and issues have shown up on the field in the last 5 years.

Rather hall was for sure an ugly incident but Florida under Meyer had 29 some arrests under his watch not even MSU, Michigan, OSU and whoever else you can think of even has came close to that so I figured it was a fair question to ask how many he'd have at Ohio State.

Damn, did I hit a nerve though lol
