Ohio re-rank spurs more change

  • AlphaBuckeye06 said...

OSU is coming (you can already start feel it) Michigan like the Lil bro, like last year we let em believe their gonna "out recruit " us until we get to signing day and start flipping guys like Dymote Thomas and whoever else Meyer wants.

Steve, who would you place your money on who will have the best b10 class when the dust settles?

OSU should crack the top 10 (the pick up of Tracy Sprinkles almost guarantees that), but UM has a very good chance of ending up in the top 3. It's really hard to see Urbie reaching Hoke's level of recruiting. Hoke is just on too good of a roll right now.

  • I still remember watchin Deveon Smith as a freshman playing the HS I graduated from in the state playoffs. Knew right away he was gonna be a hoss, I think he may have been the same size then that he is now. Huge for a frosh.

The Ohio re-rank also gave Michigan some distance on its early lead for the nation's top class.

Steve, Taco was not an every down player for his HS last year. How does he merit a 94?

It seems like 24/7 is right were OSU was about a year ago when everyone loved his frame and body but he has yet to display much of anything on the field.

Well currently OSU has an average of 92.70 and UM has one of 91.64, so my vision stands true at the moment.

This should be an interesting look on it, how do you see your class finishing out?

I think ours could look like this
    LB-EJ Levenberry 4* 91
    DT- Josh Augusta 4* 92
    WR- Eldridge Massington 4* 92
    DT/DE-Henry Poggi 4* 94
    WR-LaQuon Treadwell 4* 94
    RB-Ty Isaac 4* 95

And we're pushing for Kendall Fuller 4* 96, though I still think he's VT bound

But thats really just splitting hairs, both should be great when it come sdown to it.

OSU's star average is a tad bit better right now because OSU has a 5* commit- Jalin Marshall.

Shane Morris is right on the cusp of 5*, and if/when he gets his 5th star, pretty sure that Michigan will then have a higher star average than OSU.

I think both classes will be good, but right now Michigan's class is ridiculous and it could actually get even better with some of the guys they are in on.

Guys like Ty Isaac (top group with SC/ND), Laquon Treadwell (who I think Michigan outright leads for- even if he won't admit it), EJ Levenberry (down to FSU/Mich- decision should come within weeks).

    There are others as well.

Both classes will be crazy good, but OSU's numbers will only be 18-20, Michigan will be able to sign 24-25.

Stars come and go all the way to signing day.

Conley, Butt, and others could well drop a star as easily as they have gained one before then.

The fact remains that in the state of OH, TSUN has 8 signees. Only 3 could boast offers from OSU (maybe even 2 since it is not clear whether this staff actively recruited Gedeon)

    - I will trust that fact more than the 4 stars for players who had MAC level offers before heading up North.

To be honest, an OSU offer doesn't mean a lot to me. Both teams are going to get elite talent, some may not have offers from the other rival, we're after different players. You're right about players moving up or down, both teams could have prospects that move up or down.

We currently have a slightly higher star average, the just have a slightly higher player rating average.

don't just ask Steve this, you might as well go ask ESPN and Rivals as well.

ESPN has Taco as a 4* in their top 150 and Taco is a 4* and in the Rivals 250 as well.

Taco is 6-6, 245 lbs. and a great athlete. He'll probably play at 270-280 in college. Brady Hoke and Greg Mattison bringing in the size. I love it.

Sounds like Taco could actually move up even further with a great senior season. Fantastic!

What roll is that? Your last commit was Gedeon who was rumored to be held off so there would not be as much of dead space until the next commitment.

Who are your predicted next three for your class?

don`t worry ,we get it.... the only recruits you guys want are the ones that end up committing

We're probably going to finish our class with 5-6 4* or higher, so good luck with that. You should stop listening to Baximus.

    Bax listens to me homie.

As y'all learned last year, once that Meyer train starts to hum. It steamsroll. Real talk though I just can't believe a guy like Charlton who can't even start on his team is a top 5 player in the state.

    Next three?

    1. Poggi
    2. Isaac
    3. Levenberry or Treadwell

This honestly isn't meant to flame, we all know Urban is a good recruiter but if that whole PSU mess doesn't happen then your class is not nearly as good as it was. You flipped a 5* 3 4* and a 3* just from PSU, we can be honest and say that that wouldn't have happened without the Sandusky mess. Charlton does start for his team, he just doesn't play when they go to the 3-4, don't be that naive.

give this a rest already man.

Hoke had like 4 or 5 spots left in the last month of the recruiting season, his class was already done. He lost a commit- Caleb Stacey, and then he missed out on a few big names towards the end.

Urban surpassed Hoke by caniblizing Penn State's class. He got like 8 kids from that class, a pair of 4* HS teammates and best friends in Cam Williams and Armani Reeves, a 4* OL in Joey O'Connor, a 4* DT that Michigan turned down by the way in Tommy Schutt, and a 5* DE in Noah Spence.

If Penn State doesn't implode like that, does Urban finish as strong as he did? Probably not.

Urban finished strong last year and his class wound up ranked a few spots higher than Hoke's. Cool. We know that. That means absolutely nothing in regards to this year.

Michigan is off to a much better start this year than they were last. I mean a MUCH better start. They are also in much better position with their remaining targets this year simply due to proximity. A lot of their top targets last year towards the end were on the west coast. 3 of their top 5 remaining targets are from the midwest. Proximity generally matters in recruiting.

Michigan has FIFTEEN 4* commits right now. I'd be shocked if Morris didn't get a 5* bump when all is said and done. If/When that happens that'll put us at 1-5*, 14-4*, 2-3*'s.

Depending on how the coaches finish, say they get - Isaac, Treadwell, Poggi, and Levenberry - that would be 21 and a monster class and it really doesn't matter who they got for the next 3-4 spots to close at 24-25.

Unless another midwest power has an assistant coach getting involved in sex scandals, I doubt that happens again.
