Okay, to revisit our thread from earlier...

  • Why is it against the rules for the Detroit coach to challenge the play when it was called a TD but it's not against the rules for Rex Ryan to challenge it when it's ruled incomplete? What the hell is the difference?

I have wondered about that all day as well. The only thing that I can think is because they have to automatically review TD's in the booth. When the whistle wasn't blown then the review should have gone to the booth but somehow throwing the flag fvcked it up and made it non reviewable. I still don't understand why that makes any difference whatsoever and they wouldn't have reviewed it based on the flag even if the booth would have done it anyway. That is what they made it sound like though.

I swear I've seen (in college, however) coaches throw the challenge flag then the refs go, "The following play is under review from the booth, [Team A] will not be charged with a challenge."

Your guess is as good as mine. It made no sense at all to me. It was like, "Well we obviously fvcked up and you probably should have thrown a flag on principle after seeing the replay, but since we would have reviewed it anyway, now we won't look at it at all."

    I have no clue.

When you find out I'd like to know. The Lions got totally screwed today.
