Oklahoma's 47 game win streak

  • Does anyone know why Oklahoma never has to forfeit any games when they get caught cheating, but other programs that often get caught like Alabama do?

47 games should have been forfeited when the Sooner program got busted paying their team over $200,000 a season in 1956. That is the equivalent to $2 million dollars today.

You could buy a damn good team for that kind of cash.

Does anyone have an explanation for this?

  • Yeah I have one... who the hell cares ?

  • Who cares that you can cheat and get away with it and credit for wins from it?

    I do.

Why is Texas still considered a national power even though they've only won 2 conference championships in the past ten years?

    Because nobody gives a damn.

Hell, if people really cared about cheating Bama and Auburn would have been permanently banned from NCAA football long ago.

‏@Cordale10 Why should we have to go to class if we came here to play FOOTBALL, we ain't come to play SCHOOL, classes are POINTLESS

    Texas Lion

  • But why do Bama and Auburn have to forfeit games when busted, but Oklahoma doesn't?

    Willow01

  • Because nobody cares about games that have already been played.

OU has forfeited games before though, so I'm not sure what you're bitching about. Just because 47 is something Texas- or anybody else for that matter- will never come close to touching, doesn't mean you should whine about it.

  • We aren't talking about Texas....we are talking about Oklahoma and why they never forfeit games including the games during the win streak when they were obviously cheating. In the book "The Undefeated" it is well documented that those team rosters from 1953 to 1957 were paid over $200,000 a season (equivalent to $2 Million Dollars today).

No one is whining, just asking a question. Why weren't those games forfeited and why is it even recognized as a sports record?

Actually if you knew anything about our past with the NCAA you'd know we've only ever had 'major' violations 3 times. And I believe it's been like once a decade for the last 3 decades.

So it's really a myth that we've 'been cheating forever' and has mostly been perpetuated by butthurt barners. But apparently the ignorance has extended to 'We Rape Children State.'

Auburn on the other hand, has had major infractions 7 times I believe.

  • How does Oklahoma get away with it without forfeiting games?

They were busted in 1956 during the 47 game win streak so how is it even a record?

    Willow01

  • OU is the only team that matters when we cheat and since it's well documented in 'The Undefeated' we should strike OU from all record books, and wipe them from the face of the planet. Let the name "Oklahoma Sooners" and "Boomer Sooner" never be muttered again. May those land stealing cheating bastards get what's really coming to 'em, extinction. Hell, I'll bet nothing's changed and all of their players are getting paid now. Gat dayum cheating arseholes.

May God strike down upon them with great vengeance and furious anger, those who attempt to poison and cheat my brothers. And those Sooners will know that his name is the Lord when he lays his vengeance down upon them.

Does that make you feel better?

  • No it doesn't. I didn't get an answer to my question.

Why doesn't Oklahoma have to forfeit games when caught cheating, but other programs do?

Why is the 47 game win streak even a recognized record?

It shouldn't be as it was not accomplished in the accordance with the rules.

    1) keep this thread alive til the season starts
    2) write letters to the NCAA petitioning the forfeiture of games for the Oklahoma program for the seasons you wish
    3) collect signatures for a petition and submit with your letters
    4) update us on your progess
    5) profit???

Back then corruption was wide spread from the NCAA on down, everybody broke the rules and depending upon where you stood in the good old boy network decided who was going to be made example of. Nobody and I mean nobody liked the success that this little school from a little town in the middle of a small and sparsely populated state was having so it only stands to reason that the NCAA witch hunt have sufficient help from jealous snitches at more powerful and equally corrupt football schools to put the fledglings back in their place but the stiff punishment you speak of could not happen because the whistle blowers could also be punished by the precedence they helped to set if the shoes were reversed.

Facts and stuff...... And one of those times was Gene Jelks who later testified in court that he was paid by Auburn boosters to lie his faggot teeth off.

Do more research! OU forfeited games during the Rhett Bomar era, lost scholly's as well, been on probation and if I am not mistaken lost a probable NC due to probation, was eliminated from bowls and television as well. Looks like we got caught as much or more than some.
