One of my best friends killed a man

  • A friend of mine in Troy had his home broken into by some moron with a gun. The guy was going to terrorize them and kill them. After a scuffle ensued, my buddy stabbed the guy to death. He and his wife had minor injuries but are ok.

Why does it seem like so many people put so little value on human life? What compels someone to do something so terrible?

I've been checking out the facebook pages of the two accomplices (being held on $600,000 bonds), and they both reflect a complete lack of values and morals.

  • I work for "a large international security firm which I cannot name" (no, nothing exotic but they scour the web looking for those 3 magic letters and I don't want them locking in on my personal life). You'd be amazed at the ish that people do.

Most, as you would expect, are drug related. We see incidents of home invasions daily across the country and it's not movie type affluent homes being targeted by organized, meticulously planned thugs, it's "hey dude, we're out of cash and dope - I heard so and so makes a lot of money (or the old lady living by herself has tons of meds). This will be an easy score". Imagine sitting in your living room or at the dinner table when the door crashes open and your family has been placed in real jeopardy of their lives. Kids get caught in a melee and I've seen too many reports of a child watching a parent be killed in front of them for nothing but an attempt to support a drug habit.

This is why I will never give up my guns. This is why I have big dogs. This is why I have a security system and this is why I won't hesitate to send the sob to the lowest level of hell if ever it occurs at my house.

So it's the couples fault their home was broken into and the robber was armed? Interdasting.

  • Good Lord. We leave our front door unlocked all day in my small Southern California home town, never an incident...and I did when I lived in my beach town 15 minutes away (surrounded by prime agricultural land), guns are not popular here at all.

That said, if someone threatened my family - or any child, I would grab a knife too. Sad situation all the way around.

Pretty much sums it up for myself as well. I've never felt threatened, but if I did, I would act appropriately. I feel like the guys actions were certainly appropriate within the situation.

Why you gotta go say something like that. I didn't mean your stupid in a bad way. The lol should have given that away. But you may be right but that shouldn't reflect the way everyone in Mississippi is. There is not one state that over 75% of people graduate from high school (i wouldn't think anyway) but yeah it is some dummies here in Mississippi.

one of my good patnas who i haven't seen in some time due to other legal concerns, killed a dood that was armed with a rambo knife, and who was trying to stab him, with a coffee cup.

they made him do some time for it, too.

I think you misunderstood. It's the guy that broke into his house with no regard for life planning to murder him and his wife that I blame. My friend was defending himself.

Don't know if your partna lived in Alabama at the time but awhile back there was a spate of prosecutions and convictions related to similar. If my family was being threatened I would still blow the SOB to hell if I got the chance.

Glad to hear your friend came out on top, but that has to an awful situation. I'd assume something like that would scar most people even when it was in self-defense.

I've given up trying to understand the motives of people like you've mentioned, the human mind is still a relative mystery even with the leaps and bounds science has made over the past few decades.
