    Have you ever been alone and heard a noise at night and creeped around your house with a knife? I know I have. Couple times I was sure someone was in the house.

    my condolences. It sucks because women generally don't do well with all of that even though the best outcome happened. in all seriousness, have your buddy consult a greif counselor for his family so that they can process all of this rationally, at some point, and it won't tear them apart.

    your friend, most likely, will feel okay with it, as men can do when it is justifiable... and even rather well when not. But, women process all of that differently. they will need the help

    i usually take pepper spray and a small sword

    works better for home defense because neither over penetrate...

    if you need to use a gun, i understand... but you should really pick up some CORBON rounds for home defense.

  • I have a place outside of B'Ham off 280 and I never lock my door. I jjust figure that if someomne is going to decide to rob me they are not going to get to the door and say, well crap, it's locked, lets go. No, they will kick it in. 12 guage under my bed filled with buckshot and a .38 special in the bathroom. I'll kill um' then sue their family in a civil suit for there dead son bleeding on my cheap rug.

    I agree. I keep a shotgun by the bed, but also a mace gun. I'll only use the former if I absolutely have to.

  • I have a Smith and Wesson 9mm and there is no debating it: if someone is breaking in the front door I will get my gun, take a position and point at the front door. As soon as they breach the door way I will put two in each person present. I have hollow point bullets so damage will be extensive.

    I'll immediately call an ambulance and mildly cheer for them to get there in time just because I don't trust our justice system but they killed themselves, I just oversaw it.

    If I owned a gun I would have the same thought process.

    Interesting link for a few reasons:

    1. The reporter (Jessica Gertler) is pretty smoking. Not bad for Lower Alabama (LA).
    2. The Alabama law is that the accomplices will be charged with White's murder as they knew what he was doing. I like this law.
    3. Not to bring race into this, but the video gives a pretty contrasting race line: the white female says it's their home and they have a right to defend it, the older white couple says that's what they get for trying to break in someone else's home and steal their stuff, then the black female says it's sad that someone lost their life breaking into the home. Hopefully, I am not reading more into this than I should be.
    4. Your friend and his wife will need some help with this. My parents had a guy break in their home when they weren't home. There is an emotional issue there because most see their home as secure and a safe area. IT causes long term issues when that safety is breached. My parents are still (over 10 yrs later) shaken but very secure in their home defense.
    5. Glad your friends, although they were injured, are safe.
    6. Sad situation in that people have to rob others to get things they do not have and want. I am old school, so I would just work harder at my (legal) job than to steal from someone.
