Here's what I think. A&M's running an explosive offense in a conference where the players and coaches are completely unfamiliar with it. Completely, as in they look lost. The Alabama game was a good example. 20 of their 29 points were scored in the first quarter - their first 3 possessions.. Alabama pretty much stuffed them the rest of the game after they put a spy on the qb and started keeping the receivers in front of them. Let's look how they're doing in 2-3 years when the SEC catches up. I personally think any no huddle spread offense from the Big XII would have had the same success as aggie - they don't know how to defend it there - yet.

A&M probably could have gone 9-3 or 10-2 last year instead of 7-6 if they were already playing an SEC schedule , judging by how they had Arkansas beat (the #5 ranked team in the nation at end of last year) before blowing a big 2nd half lead and losing 42-38.
A&M is still blowing 2nd half leads though, or else they would have gone through the SEC undefeated this year.
However, they went undefeated on the ROAD this year in SEC play, going a perfect 4-0. Maybe their toughest road game was their 59-57 win at LaTech.
The most an SEC team scored on A&M so far was Ole Miss- 27.Interesting -
A&M's 4 OOC opponents avg = 25.2 ppg
(which included 2 D1aa teams, LaTech, and a bad SMU team)A&M's 7 SEC opponents avg = 19.8 ppg
That's A&M playing big time SEC defense right there boy!

OOC>>SEC
It is impressive what Sumlin has been able to do this season, but IMO it does show that the SEC isn't invincible like fans and ESPN believes. There are some good defenses, one or two good offenses, and several strong home field advantages.
I don't see how a program with a new HC, new systems, and a freshman QB should be tearing up a conference that was supposed to be much more difficult than the one the more talented team failed miserably in the year before. The defense was awful last season, and has a bunch of new starters in the secondary including two underclassmen at CB. I know the SEC doesn't have many good QBs, but NOBODY can tear those guys up? I expected more from the "toughest conference in the land."

What sec argument?
About it being overrated? On a team by team basis, that may be the case.
College football is all about analyst getting too caught up in their own allegiances/agendas.
The real difference lies within the actual strength of the "football programs." There are some great football programs in the south.
