Oregon's offense is just another version

    Because the nerves of playing in the national championship got to Cam and he had his worst game. Had nothing to do with Oregon's defense. Had two receivers wide open for touchdowns and Cam threw one pass too long and the other pass too short. Auburn also settled for a field goal at the end of the game because that is all they needed to win. They probably could have scored a touchdown if they needed or wanted too. If I remember correctly, Auburn also had over 500 yards total offense in that game

    Cam Juice did miss that wide open wheel route...

    But Oregon fvcked up multiple times in that game as well. Don't homer me tiger

    Jesus. First off, their offense has thumped plenty of 'good' defenses. Given that the only other team you've probably ever seen play in the PAC is SC... Oregon beat them when SC had "SEC" defenses. And really? KSU has a better defense than Oregon? It's not even possible.

    Regardless, look at Oregon's defensive stats in the Aub and Corndog games and tell me they lost because of their defense. You can't. They lost because their O line was 100% pussy.

    Ah..no. The last time we played real Trojan defense was 2008, and oregon missed playing USC those 37-2 championships years.

  • Oregon's defense gives up a lot of points and yards at times, but it isn't becasue they suck, IMO.

    This year, they are 27th in yds/play, which is tied with UGA and 8 spots higher than Kansas St.
    In 2010, they were 11th, which was tied with Florida. LSU was 22nd that season, BTW.

    If they had the same number of defensive plays as Alabama, they'd be ranked 16th instead of 47th in total defense. It's not like they aren't getting off the field and just giving up more plays. They are 12th in opponent's 3rd down conversions as well.

    I don't know. After these past couple of weeks. I don't think anyone should saying that Bama would definitely beat any top teams. I also don't think Oregon has done anything to show that they would definitely beat KSU or ND either.

    A&M tired out Bama so bad only 10 of their guys wanted to play at one point, the rest limped off the field. A&M is Oregon-lite, there is a reason Saban was asking if this is what we want CFB to turn in to, he can't hang with it. Ducks would embarrass them.

  • Oregon fans shouldn't get gassed over what the Aggies did IMO. Manziel is a different QB than Mariota. Manziel is more of a jitterbug who does an amazing job of keeping his eyes up field and throwing on the run. Mariota runs Kelly's offense to a tee, but he runs the play as diagrammed, not skipping back and forth all over the backfield making defenders gas out chasing him. Oregon =/= A&M.

    Facing less plays in a game doesn't make a defense better. It just lets you hide your defensive problems. When you judge their defense by yards per play Oregon looks much better on defense. So far this year Oregon is just behind Georgia in ypp, 5.0 - 4.8

    First off it does.help.the defense by.not.being on the field.longer.

    Second it.does also.help cover.up.problems .

    Show me any team that runs a fast paced spread with a good defense.

    Johnny football is great and all, but he doesn't have the tools Mariota does. That kid is going to be the first overall pick next year.

    Obviously you haven't watched Mariota. The kid runs Chips system to a tee yes, but he also can turn nothing into something with ease. With his legs or with his arm. He has proven in the past two games that he is a surgeon with his passing. Very accurate and spins it. He threw for like 80+% against SC and about the Same yesterday. Throwing for over 325 yds and 5-6 tds in each game. Plus he's more poised then Manziel. Makes less mistakes and does not get rattled one bit. Oregons offense is a better, more effective version of A&M's offense. Oregon would take Bama to the house, but unfortunately we won't have the chance to see that.

    Not if you look at how many yards the opposition gains per play you're not. You did do a good job of making Tyler Bray look like Matt Barkley though.
