    I will gladly contribute to a specific fund to that goes directly to the parents of these kids or to the school to go directly to those families.

    Need to do this TMB style. A trusted member of the board collect the donations. Set a deadline. Once that deadline comes, the keeper of the money contacts someone first hand to send the donations to. That way you avoid the third party collections. You guys ever see the toy drives every Christmas that they do for St. Jude? People buy and send toys to one trusted poster. That posted then delivers all toys directly to St. Jude. Now I'm not sure if we have anyone on this board in the Connecticut area, so ours won't be that simple.

    Well Les started this thing. I trust him so let him collect the donations. Either him or USMCAG would be fine by me. Sounds like USMCAG would know the best way to set up an account to get the donations organized. I would think as long as our donations go to a centralized account that it would be easy enough to transfer electronically on said due date.

    I actually think USMCAG's idea of donating directly to the school is the way to go. I'm up for other options, but I personally think that it's the best way to do it.

    Just doing what anyone with any kind of sympathy/heart would do. This is all of us, I don't need credit for this.. This is ALL for the families and people involved and I thank you guys so much for helping. We have some good people on this board.

    Also, I changed the thread title and entire post since we laid the foundation of what to do... Will fix again when we have ore info.

  • I'm still worried. Anyone think it would be cool to choose one of the families affected? Sending it to the school.... Just doesn't seem like it hits home with the families affected. What will the school do with that money? The families will have funerals, time off work to grieve, possible loss of job due to the stress/depression... You never know. If the money goes to the school... who really gets it?

    If we run a drive, I think we could raise a few thousand. I would like to set the bar at around $5000 if the whole network actually gets in on it. If we could hit that mark, maybe $1000 to 5 of the families directly from 247sports to their mailbox or whatever.

    Hey, just throwing it out there. If its the school, I'm still 100% behind it. Its just the time for throwing out feelers.

    We aren't world savers here. We can't help 28 families. That is unrealistic to even think.

    Its just shady sending donations like this to third parties and just trusting it gets to where you intended it to go. That is why TMB does their toy drive the way they do it. Someone personally hands all toys to St. Jude. That same person also does special requests to certain children. One of the guys got a little boy an Alabama jersey, hat, and football. The boy took a picture in his new outfit and ball, and it was the most precious picture I had ever seen.

  • Also, we should find the Single Mother/Father or people that would need the most help with Funeral Funds, Therapy and all kinds of other expenses.

    Or did you guys want to Randomly select the Families? I pray no one had 2 of their kids gunned down, if so, they would be on the top of the list.

    That's the only kicker. How the money gets from the bank/paypal to the hands of who its intended to go to. I don't think Connecticut is represented on tBB. Could be wrong on that. It may be easier to write some sort of check, and mail it to the families. That way it goes straight to their mailbox. Put it in a Hallmark card
