  • Romney was the Republicans best shot because at least he started out mildly moderate prior to getting the nomination. Rubio is a "Latino" who voted against the dream act. As well as voting against the violence against women act.

He doesn't stand a chance with the growing Latino population.

I guess I'd be considered a social conservative (I'm pro-life), but I completely agree. Roe v Wade will never be overturned so there's no reason to alienate voters by grandstanding on the idea that it can be overturned. Conservative's stance on immigration (and I detest illegals in this country as well) has to change as well because it isn't the white or black vote that's going to start losing them every election..... it's the Hispanic vote.

Exactly. It is simply a matter or politics. For better or worse, that sort of rhetoric turns people off.

Rubio is shafting the TP and moving towards the center, presumably for a 2016 run. He would be a legit candidate.

Candidates aside in that poll, this is Georgia for Christ's sake. If GA is a slight lead for Hillary, what would OH and FL be? blank

If the deep south bastion of red states ever cracks, that's it. Texas will be purple in 12 years anyways, but the irrelevance of the Republican party will be greatly accelerated if the South breaks open at all.

Any talk of Jeb Bush getting into the race. Doesn't seem to be anyone but Rubio and Jeb that could actually swing the latino vote.

Republicans are wrong but FAR from stupid, that's why they've already begun their gerrymandering to break up the electorate process.

Unlikely. Frankly, the Bush name is very polarizing, and unless there's a clear Republican majority that could elect him, running a Bush would be suicide. Given that Romney lost the last election by 4 million votes, and that the gap will most likely be even larger by 2016 as the Republican base dies off and the Democratic base comes of voting age, it's just not going to happen.

I was actually pleasantly surprised that the VA Speaker shut down the Republican gerrymandering end-run around a deadlocked state senate.

Gerrymandering is the most ridiculous political process and should be so heavily regulated that it's all but impossible to redistrict in the way that things have been going in the last decade.
