USC was given the exemption because the sanctions were put in place a few months before the game that had been scheduled for years was to be played. Plenty of fans (myself included) had paid for the trip already plus it would have screwed Hawaii out of as huge payday.

To try and schedule a game after the fact probably won't fly.

We've played Hawaii as a perk for the players, the band, and the fans, for a number of years before we were sanctioned, and they made a plea to the NCAA because the economic impact would have devastated the season for Hawaii.

Even if Penn State schedules them and doesn't get the 13th game, it's worth the little vacation the NCAA allows so the kids can have a few days of fun in paradise. That alone could be better than any bowl game in some dump could ever be. Hawaii loves us because Trojans travel well there and spend a lot of money...I can just imagine how much the Penn State fans would pour into the Island if they played there.

That was before we joined. Do you really think Delany will allow Pedo state to play on the same day as the Big Ten Championship game. Would never happen.

I highly doubt the B10 will bar anyone from playing Hawaii. But I'm sure you know much better how the conference works than I do. You've been in it for a full year now.

You can come out here and schedule UH, but I doubt you can get a 13th game out of it. That loophole has been closed.

I never said they would play in December. There are 14 other weeks and only 8 of those are used for conference games. I'm sure they would do everything possible to avoid scheduling any game on the same day as the BTCCG. FWIW, games are now frequently played on Thursdays and Fridays so even a December game in Hawaii does not automatically cause a conflict. But the original question was about B10 teams being able to play Hawaii as a 13th game. It wasn't about that game being the same day as the BTCCG. Every conference with a CCG has the same issue as the B10 and I'm sure they will all will continue to allow their teams to schedule Hawaii.
