Papa Johns laying off workers and reducing hours.

I guess if you owned a company and all of the sudden had to pay millions more in these "costs" you would just sit back and take it huh?

I would probably try to find some financial solutions that didn't involve layoffs first.

And I'm not saying I support these new costs, I'm just saying I'm very anti-unemployment.

these companies dont HAVE to do this, theyre choosing to, dont for a second believe it isnt greed motivated.

So they should keep people on and have less profits to show for it because it is the right thing to do? Would you keep 1000 employees on full time if you owned a business and lost $100,000 as a result? Serious question, no flame.

losing money is not an effective business model.

This, companies exist to make money, not to hire as many people as they can.

Pizza prices rise from 11-14 cents per pizza. Guess the guy is cutting hours and laying off so he doesn't have to provide Obamacare to all his employees. Applebee's, Red Lobster, Denny's and others planning on doing the same. God Bless America.

What's really ironic though is that he could have raised prices by $1.00 and told people it was to provide healthcare to his employees. People would have applauded him and he would have made a profit to boot.

    Yeah, I said it.

Well, no kidding. You mean these companies want to make all the money they possibly can? Get outta hear with that bullshat. And when conservatives say that liberal politics affect job growth, it does. These businesses are in it to make money. The most they can. And they will. Is it morally right? That's up to each person to decide but everyone knew it was coming.

well, first, the correct usage would be "here" but anyway, of course employers want to make as much as they can and they should but when someone works what is considered "full time" they should have a right to health benefits, for far too long these companies ignored that and "made as much as possible". thats severely taking advantage of your employees.

For maybe a week, then people are going to notice they are paying more for Papa Johns compared to a different chain and will shop elsewhere.

Listen I'll never be a CEO and will probably be at the bottom. Companies that tend to make to many decisions based on the employees and not making the most money don't last very long.

You mean he analyzed the cost and implemented his own financial solution for HIS company that he thought would result in the highest profit.

    How dare he!1!1!!!

I know I'm in the minority but I can appreciate a company that does right by their employees and am willing to spend an extra buck or 2. Then again, I'm that guy who refuses to shop at Wal-mart for those same reasons.

You can laugh and call me out of touch and naive, but I think a company exists to provide high quality goods and/or services at competitive prices to its clients which, in turn, results in profit. Today, however, I see too many companies saying, "What is the lowest quality good/service we can offer at the highest price and people will still buy from us?" I always viewed it as, "What is the highest quality good/service we can offer at the lowest/most competitive price that will entice consumers to choose us over our competitors?"

How do you know how much healthcare would cost for all his employees? Where can I find this info? I'd like to look at it.

Tend to not shop at any big-box stores, but yes if there's no other option I shop at Target. I live in pretty heavily populated area so I usually don't have to shop there, though.

Not ideal as it's from The Daily Show but I'm sure that you could fact check it and everything is correct. It's at about the 4:00 mark

Papa John’s CEO John Schnatter said he plans on passing the costs of health care reform to his business onto his employees.-city-county observere. thats a direct quote, he didnt pass it off to consumers, me paying 14 cents extra is nothing compared to employees with families losing wages and health benefits.

    This

We're celebrating a CEO who was too greedy to pay for his employees health care.

Maybe if he didn't throw millions into lobbying and a 250 million dollar fine for email fraud he could have made some better decisions

    His pizza is shit anyways
