Papa Johns laying off workers and reducing hours.

im not advocating hiring more,l just treat the employees youve had the way they deserve.

I understand what your saying and I agree with it, I just don't think obamacare is the right course of action to get to that point.

    Agree to disagree I guess.

First and foremost, jobs in the food industry are a dime a dozen, so I doubt any of these folks will have trouble finding full time employment elsewhere. Secondly, 80% of Papa Johns are franchised, so I think it's safe to say that his restaurants are hardly the bread and butter of his business. Third, according to forbes, the .10-14 cent increase more than offsets the "cost" of the ACA. He's well within his right to cut hours and lay folks off, but that's not a requirement of the ACA, that's his choice. It's disingenuous to suggest otherwise.

I was waiting for the actual math. Thank you

He would rather make a political statement and fuck over his employees than come up with a creative solution to adjust margins by 10-14 cents.

Wtf would a pizza place spend a couple thousand or more a year to pay for insurance for the delivery boy?

    We're talking about full-time employees, not part-time.

I hear ya, but that's the cost of marketing. Though at this point, he'd certainly be better served taking to the airwaves explaining the cost increase then closing his explanation out with a "God Bless America".

It would equal more tahn double what is needed to cover his employees. The amount I heard that is needed for his employees is approx $8mil.

    Yeah, I said it.

Lmao. Of course when it comes to the job market. I earn my company much more than Bobby the pizza boy. therefore I make and receive more. It's a business, it's not personal.

  • wow, im stunned by how trivial people can view others, if you have made it and are successful, thats great and you deserve what you get but to utterly disregard someone as basically below you because you dont respect their job? everyone of us orders food at least once a week or eats out once a week, those jobs can actually be quite stressful. grow up.

Here's the fundamental flaw: Some jobs are worth more then others. Some jobs don't require anything beyond the ability to stand up, zero creative thought process or value added. For jobs that anybody with a pulse can do, no, you're not entitled to the same benefits as jobs not everybody can do.

The idea that everybody who works any hours at any job is entitled to health insurance is laughably absurd. Bad jobs come with bad compensation. It's why they are bad jobs, it's why the goal is to get a good job. Can't get a good job because you're not smart enough? Either get smarter or accept that's your lot in life.

Complain all you want about how its "inhumane", it's simply the way things are done here on planet Earth, and it's not going to change.

Minimum wage should be $1,000,000 per year.

i dont disagree that some jobs are more important then others, are they "bad jobs" not quite considering take out pizza is a billion dollar industry. in the heart of it, people are people, they deserve to be treated fairly, should someone with a degree and drive to succeed be paid monetarily as much as someone who didnt strive for and work as hard, no but that doesnt mean they should be denied basic requirements of full employment, including heath insurance, im not so vain as to think lesser people dont deserve rights, im not advocating giving them ferarri's and huge homes, they wont achieve that but fair prices on antibiotics and hospitals is OK in my book.

  • The Papa John's guy may be doing it as a political statement, but several other companies are looking at hiring freezes and cuts in hours as well (Applebee's, Hardee's, Denny's, etc.). He's not the only one.

I'm curious as to what makes health care a "right" for anyone?

They all have the right to pursue health care. Nobody's preventing that.

"Fair prices"...what is fair and who decides that? Is it fair that I never have to go to the hospital, but I have to pay rising premiums because tons of other people are making hundreds of claims that raise health care prices? I don't think that's very fair.
