If you're not smart enough to read it, figure out how businesses are hurt by it then it can't be explained to you. Hint: I've read your posts. You aren't.

This is the ultimate cop-out answer. When have I ever made an assertion and not backed it up when called on it?

You're just the latest in a long line of tBB posters to post the exact same response: "If you're not smart enough to figure it out yourself, I'm not going to explain it to you." You know what the common thread is between all those posters? Not a single one was capable of explaining the point at issue.

How about you prove all those people wrong and actually explain why the ACA is such a bad thing without just using talking points?

But you're not smart, it's not a cop out. Things can't be explained to people who aren't smart after a while. It's just best to nod my head and say ok. (Nods head) ok.

  • I'm not sure how hard it is to grasp the reality that business are laying people off because of the costs of this healthcare bill.

What part of this isn't registering in your brain? There have been multiple people in here that have said how they are affected by the bill, and guess what? None of them have had anything positive to say about it.

  • The company I work for covers 100% of our healthcare plan. And quite frankly, I wish more (all) business would do this or at least cover a portion of it. Spare me any talk about capitalism or profit margin or shareholders. It's an ethical decision, to do good by your employees. And guess what? We still run a highly successful business that also allows us to pay everyone very well. So don't tell me it can't be done. We do it.

  • Small businesses are being affected too. My father-in-law is an independent insurance agent and last time we talked, he was frustrated at having to talk to businesses and their employees about how coverages will be changing. Premiums increasing, and deductibles increasing by an order of magnitude. He's a little skeptical of how some of them will survive.

Pretty broad statement. How big are the small businesses? 50 and under get help.

The law also hasn't been implemented yet, so it seems that your father-in-law's friends are confusing the very typical rise in healthcare costs in the last ten years or so as a product of the law.

Have read over a dozen stories like this by small business owners at another forum I frequent.

Sucks some people who strive to grow their business are instead hit with these ridiculous taxes and are then labeled "greedy" when they try to find other ways to make up for lost profit.

In order for this post to have any merit, how many employees? What industry?

these companies dont HAVE to do this, theyre choosing to, dont for a second believe it isnt greed motivated.

Incorrect. They also have a duty to keep their stock prices high for their investors as well. Tanking your company and its equity to support the lowest people on the totem pole is bad business and will lead to an eventual going concern problem as you run out of equity. You are a fool and you don't understand accounting or economics. You are a liberal and you probably voted for Obama. lulz.

I was just saying a factual statement. I'm assuming 10 years ago this college student was in roughly 5th grade?

Am I wrong? Should be pretty close. 4th grade? 6th grade?

It's aight though. 10 years ago I was a college kid and probably would have been fooled by free education, healthcare, and lots o' jobs Obama. He's good at speaking to the inexperienced and uneducated.

I didn't get the details. My impression was that the talks he's been giving are what these companies will have to move to in the future, not what they're getting right now. More of a question and answer session for the employees and explaining to them why their deductible is increasing by a factor of ten.

I do think part of the reason is a large increase in claims. Which aren't exactly going to go down when more and more people get health insurance.

Let me ask you a simple question and I'd like an honest answer. Since you're fairly independent, an average employer pays around 6000.00 per employer In health insurance costs. My company pays roughly 60% of our health costs so 6k is about right. The government has made alaw saying that if they don't cover an employers health care cost they are subject to a 2000.00 penalty. If your a buisness and want to maximize profits, what's the company going to do? This isn't about the bill causing job growth problems. It's more about companies doing away with it all together and everyone eventually having no choice but to get on a governement plan. This bill isnt going to reduce costs. Thats absurd. This is Obama's and liberal hopes. One step closer to their ultimate goal.

Well I'll be honest, if I was the owner, I'd be providing as much health coverage as I could. But that's just my ideology when it comes to it. And in doing so, I would avoid the penalty, no?
