Those two don't have a side. They have an agenda.

You can have an agenda and a side. They have very valid points, you just don't wish to acknowledge them because of their agenda... and that's a shame because it just perpetuates the inaccuracies.

I wouldn't keep quiet. There have been inaccuracies throughout this whole thing... if someone is painting my father as something without concrete proof, I wouldn't sit there quietly.

But there is concrete proof(Joe's own testimony) that he's a son of a bitch. He was told of fondling, and didn't want to ruin anybody's weekend. Idgaf how old he was, he knew "fondling"

I pulled testimony from court documents - clear that you have read nothing and have done zero research to support your loyal "blind" support for Joe Paterno - go look it up dum dum

Get off you ass and stop looking like an idiot in front of everyone - read the articles I posted - most of what I posted was also stated in those articles - You cannot be this stupid to challenge ME!

I have you and your cult trying to E-bully me with name calling and attacking in teams like cowards - Who is really bad at this???? I speak and you react with anger- like my puppet.

You are my new puppet and your name is now Suzy - from this point forward the board will call you Suzy

If I thought people were wrongly calling my father a horrible person who enables child rape, I would probably be pretty pissed.

For those who choose not to comprehend what I just wrote, I am not saying Joe is wrongly being labeled, but obviously his family believes he is. If I believed that about my father, I doubt I would lay low while everyone blasted him.

It's not like he didn't tell anybody. He waited a day.

I think he handled it poorly, as I have said many times. That doesn't make him a son of a bitch.

EDIT: And I called him a scumbag when this all first came out. I have read a ton of information since then, including the Freeh report and it is my opinion that he isn't a scumbag, just that he made a terrible decision.

The paternos really need to just stop. It is obvious they have laid out a "plan of attack" to protect paternos image.

1-say how hard it is to identify a child molester 2-never answer the question...what would joe have done if it was his grandkid

This is a full onslaught...and outside of sc, it is falling on deaf ears.

But this tweet I found proves the paternos need to just creep away:

45m Sara Ganim ‏ @ sganim To clarify, re: http://www.pennlive.com/midstate/index.ssf/2012/07/joe_paternos_family_coach_did.html … # Paterno son Scott says "if (Paterno) knew, he must have forgotten."

maybe scott is the red-headed step child...but wow... please. This will be so much better for psu if they just stop.

IMO MM and Joe are sons of bitches. MM waited a day to tell Joe instead of decking the old man and calling the cops. Joe for the same reason. iirc you have a young child, I have a young boy. The thought of a man ass raping a young boy sickens me, and these guys are all cavalier and 911 was never called. That=son of a bitch in my book.

That's fine, I understand that view. But let's be clear that MM didn't tell Joe he saw a kid getting raped.

I just come back to asking myself, why didn't MM go directly to police or try to break the event up as it happened. Interestingly enough, MM is still in State College. I stood behind him in line at a convenience store a few weeks ago, and let me tell you, he is a very large man. I think it is very reasonable to question why he didn't beat Sandusky's ass right there. There are only two logical explanations... either he wasn't sure what he saw or he was in total shock. Either one is reasonable.

With that being said, you then have to ask, why did MM's father and his friend, Dr. Dranov advise MM to go to Joe Paterno and not the police? Something is odd with that. Extremely odd.

If you enjoy Penn State events, there is a ton to do. And while the Bryce Jordan Center has been kind of a miss for PSU basketball, it is a great events center and brings in national acts monthly (Lady Gaga, Carrie Underwood, Bon Jovi and Bruce all have been within the last couple of months or will be in a month or so).

For Leppy, I don't get it. To have so much hate towards PSU, I really have no idea what that guy does for fun in this area. No wonder he is bitter.

I don't mean there's not much to do... I have been to the campus a dozen times... I meant there probably aren't any large companies to work at beside penn state.

I would guess that they are the largest employer in sc by a wide margin.

If you work at taco bell and you hate the town...pretty easy to leave and go to another taco bell. I'm sure there are contractors that provide services to penn state that are in state college.

I know I would rather live in the 7th level of hell then live in ann arbor... but that's just me.

PSU is clearly the largest employer in the area, but there are a lot of small corporations in State College. The most notable being AccuWeather. Lots of people also work in the school districts, local government and hospitals. The unemployment rate has been around 5.5% and is always under the national average. This area has actually always been pretty well insulated from downturns in the economy. That includes the housing market which saw minimal losses during the real estate bubble burst of 08.

  • I am contracted by the university through the applied science lab - it is a great job and I work with some great minds at PSU. The area is outstanding and a great place to raise kids - well better now.....

The PSU loons make up about 40% of the fan base - a majority of them never attended main campus - they attended or graduated from a branch campus like PSU Hazelton or PSU Dubois (Sandusky's fav branch) or did not go to PSU at all. Actually, a majority of Main Campus Students are not from PA - most are from NY or NJ because PSU "out of state" tuition is cheaper than "In State" tuition back home. This was a Graham Spanier move to generate more money by pushing state tax paying students to branch campuses who would pay cheaper "in state" tuition - so put them at cheaper facilities....and put the higher tuition paying "out of state" students at main campus with better facilities. So the loons are already disgruntled as it is.

Don't let these loons fool you - Not all PSU fans are drinking the cool aid - most (educated) that I have talked to recently are pissed that the Paterno's are on this campaign to change the public opinion - which anyone with a ounce of logic would know is impossible to do given the circumstance.

I have shown them some of the comments in this thread to some PSU staffers and I get a consistent reaction - uhoh

As far as having things to do - I like really good beer and there are several great taverns and pubs on Beaver Ave and College Ave - The restaurants are really good too - if you come into town - get some wood fired Pizza at Facia Luna or some Blackened Catfish and gumbo at Spatz - good stuff

Other than that - I take off to NYC occasionally, which is only 4 hours away

Exactly, I could honestly care less about Joe Pa and his legacy and I said on here numerous times that he should have done more and was for him being fired way back when everything first broke, but after reading the Freeh Report and really looking at all the information after everything came out my opinion changed. I still believe Joe should have done more and I think most people believe that, but I don't think he was part of a coverup at all.

I think that's all Jay and the family is realistically trying to convey to people.
They're not out to have everyone say that Joe was a saint... Just that he wasn't the devil either and that it's unfair to use hindsight to judge him as a man based on this mistake - especially with only one side of the story and an incomplete set of facts.
He/they are out to combat the notion of a cover-up and the narrative that he was an all-powerful Godfather who knew everything - law and logic be damned.

At least that's my take from it. To me, he was neither saint nor satan. Just a guy who coached football, put a big emphasis on education; was imperfect like us all and made a grave mistake - but not out of malice or some Scarface-type desire to keep his kingdom from infallibility.
And I mean that. Joe had great ideals and stood for and did a lot of good. But he also was a huge prick at times and could be a real asshole. Especially as he aged he grew more cantankerous and IMO a bit selfishly held onto the job because he feared he would die like Bear Bryant did shortly after retirement.
All that sums up neither a saint nor despicable villain.
Wow, I rambled quite a bit. Beats studying.

    *sigh*

First off, only 34% of students at PSU main are out of state. That includes international students that make up 15% of the student body.

Secondly, living on campus at a SUNY school costs about 21k. At Rutgers it is about 24k for everything. At PSU main for a non-PA resident it is about 40k.

So yeah... not surprisingly, you are wrong. Just as I am sure you aren't sharing this thread with staffers. I mean, why would you?

Do you love just making things up? 66% of main campus students are from PA. OOS tuition is through the roof (tuition + room and board = 40k per year). PSU has the highest tuition of any state school in the entire country.

Most people aren't loony about it. You just paint them about it by making up ridiculous statistics (like the ones you've stated in this post) because you "know these people." You're the one who always says "a majority believe x, y and z," when in reality it isn't true.

In fact, earlier in this thread you said "infact the majority contest that any of them were penetrated." To which I told you that is an absolute flat out lie, and you ignored. I have never heard one person say "I don't think any kids were raped." And I know a whole lot of PSU people, considering I graduated from there.

So stop spewing your "I know everything" crap when 95% of what you say is made up in your own head.
