Perfect example of what's wrong with today's government

I just don't get the "smug" they shouldn't be here stuff. ( not you personally so please take no offense)

This land was built by immigrants hands. Our ancestors are illegal immigrants. As a human being, not just an American, can you not see that? We are all inhabitants of a planet. Billions weren't lucky enough to be born here. These people didn't asked to be born. They just were. Why is another human not entitled to a wonderful life that other countries cant provide because they weren't born in the land of opportunity? These idiotic immigration laws need to be re-written to make sense. I'd rather live in a County full of immigrant workers than fat Americans with there hand out but the government. Won't change that so it's not a realistic possibility. What is a real possibility is rewriting laws that say I you work, pay taxes, you can stay and contribute to society. I just think saying, "Well you weren't born here so tough shit" is a little inhumane and sadistic, IMO.

Please know that I'm not singling you out, just my thoughts in general on how we can become a better people overall.

And again, the owner didn't break any laws. He's not dumb. he filed the required paperwork. Thats as far as his obligation carries. These so-called criminal immigrants did. By being here and working because of laws that make no sense.

I know that your intentions are good but you apparently have never had your living threatened by underbidding, have you? I honestly have mixed emotions regarding illegal immigrants. I believe that if you earn a living and can contribute to the economy you should be welcomed with open arms. Unfortunately not every illegal immigrant does this. I truly feel for those poor people that paid taxes and were honest working families but again not every illegal immigrant does this. I live in Georgia and as a business owner who competes against illegals have a much different view of the situation. When the economy was good.... no problem. There was room for us all. As the economy has suffered... I am constantly underbid by illegal immigrants who do not have to pay taxes and hire illegals who work for nothing. It has really effected my business and put a huge cramp on my living. Just my experience.

    Immigration reform shouldn't be a republican/democrat divide. It's a human being issue.

To the other poster, That's the point. We are wasting dollars on arresting working people when money could be spent on catching real criminals. It's no different than going after pot smokers when you could be catching meth dealers.

Okay well how about I don't want to live in a Latin American country then?

I cannot believe the hypocrisy on this board. So lets get this straight...if they are able to find low paying jobs, then they can stay. I like the selective law enforcement.

It won't be. It's simply America. Actually a Native country that's evolved. Then it was a British country. Then it was Irish Catholic immigrants and French. Then slaves were brought to build this country. Our generation is just a small blip on a large radar. Hardworking people should never be denied or cast out of this country. We wouldn't be where we are today if that was the attitude in the 1600 and 1700's.

The men who wrote those laws were a hell of a lot smarter than you. They make sense to people who have common sense. It is obvious you do not think of the big picture. Just me me me. Sad if u ask me..

La born and raised huh? So French heritage? Lol.... your people came as immigrants but they didn't have to go through miles of red tape and years to get citizenship. It was just granted.

What, other than an increasing number of Hispanics, would lead you to believe that you'd be living in a "Latin American country"? Are you really that afraid of another race? Are you really that scared of diversity?

It was not a country when the Natives ruled the land. The country You and I know was built by Europeans and built based on a certain philosophy. The people you are wanting to displace us don't share that philosophy, and won't even be bothered to learn our language. This is not even to mention that we have unemployed people already here so bringing in more people does not make sense.

You are assuming assimilation also which isn't happening. This isn't the immigration of yore when immigrants assimilated, this is immigration in the age of liberal idiocy where immigrants not only don't assimilate, or even try, but are also encouraged not to. This isn't immigration at all, it's balkanization.

Scared of diversity? No. Scared of turning into another country in the Americas whose population supports socialism to its extreme? Yes. Scared of the effects on the economy being a bilingual country will have? Yes.

Listen closely.....this thread was started to show that many Hispanics like the ones being deported, are Christian and speak English. They've been here for years. Their kids go to our schools. I'm not naive enough to think all should be allowed to stay because a lare portion are criminals but immigtion laws need to allow those that embrace our culture as their own should be able to stay and fulfill their dream. This is not only the right thing to do but the Christian thing to do.

The vast majority don't assimilate, and since it's not possible to weed out the ones that do...get rid of all of them I say. I am tired of going to Wal-Mart and seeing signs advertising that Western Union is the best way to send money back to Latin America.

I guess my question is that if they have lived here as law abiding, tax paying citizens why did they not seek legal citizenship?

They have. It's not a 1 year process like most think. I know several personally who have been In the process for 6 years. It's not as easy as the INS website makes it out to be. I'm going to bed so I won't get into all the red tape but its real. And
many green cards expire before becoming a citizen.

Yes by "building" a soccer field.........which entails having a piece of property big enough to play soccer on and......well nothing else. What exactly did he "build"?? A press box? Maybe some players locker rooms?

He installed lights which were 3,000 a piece. There's probably 15 total. He bought professional goals at 1500.00 a piece. He had the whole field landscaped with sand underneath the grass. He installed a sprinkler system. All in all it probably cost him 35,000 to build.(just the field itself) He also gave them free reign to come and go on his property on the weekends with as many friends and family as they want to bring. He's a devout Christian and he lives it everyday of his life. He loves his fellow man. But he's a millionaire so inherently evil.

No..hes inherently evil because he got his millions by employing illegal aliens, and making his money off the fact they cant do or say anything about the fifty or sixty hour work week, or below minimum wage pay.

Money is not evil.....abusing other humans to get it and avoiding the law is what is evil.

I became good friends with one of my employees who was born in Brazil and became an American citizen. It is not easy but it can be done. However if these people are what you say they are and still are not granted citizenship, the laws need to be changed.

$10 - $12 an hour for unskilled labor is not unfair in Georgia. If his friend is paying these workers that then he is not in any way taking advantage of them.

Seriously. Can you read? Have you read this thread? Did you read the part where I said they are paid 10-15 dollars per hour? Did you read were i told you he pays them overtime? That's minimum wage? That's all any factories pay in rural county Georgia. That's a fact. Where did you come up with my friend is terrible to them? Why are you making that up? I've been 100% honest in everything I've said in this thread and you're desperately trying to poke holes in the mans character and are at a point of just makin shit up as you go along. I have no doubt that your scenario happens at other places but I can say with 100% certainty that it doesn't go on there. It's pretty sad that I can tell of my friends situation , how he should be the example and you still assume that he pays minimum wage, makes them work overtime at regular pay and all that. Take your hatred of the rich to another thread. It does not apply here. Do you think he should pay them 20 per/hr, Give a retirement pension, pay for complete health and dental for his employees? If that was the standard you couldn't afford the products. That's not the standard anywhere except the Automotve industry Unions and we all know what that did. They had to be bailed out. There's zero reason for you to say he's evil. You've been completely wrong in your theories and assumptions.

It's obvious at this point he can't read because I've said that from the very first post. What I'm saying is true and these folks are good people and they enjoy working for him. The owners "right-hand" man has been with him for 13 years. He started the process of citizenship in 2007. He didn't make the cut and will be deported very soon. He was arrested at his home, in front of his 2 children. His wife isn't a citizen but his kids are so she can stay. A good mans family is being ripped apart. The bread winner for that family will be deported back to Mexico. Who becomes the default breadwinners for his family? Us. Just a sad situation with no easy answers.

Do you think Obama should suspend all deportations of illegal immigrants who have committed no crimes in the US?
