Petrino likely gone

  • Not like this is breaking news but I have talked to at least 5 Arky fans and a few that claim to have sources that he will resign as early as Monday.

    I said he was gone after he was put on administrative leave. Was expecting him to be fired before resigning but the end result is the same.

    If/when he's fired/resigns, I think they'll promote from within and search through the season for a new coach. Don't think they make a move here in the middle/end of spring football.

  • Great news for Auburn and that's not a flame. I thought Petrino had made Arky a comparable program and those two would really battle going forward. Now Auburn for sure is better.

    Don't think so, Taver Johnson is the interim coach and while I think eventually Taver will be a HC I don't think he's ready yet. I agree, I think Gus gets a call for this one-especially with this much time before the season.

    keep in mind he's the same azzbucket that wanted to throw the ball
    with McFadden & Jones at RB .

    his hocus-motion scheme is ok but best suits (New Mex State)clubs
    that are just hoping to be competitive .

    I hope they either keep Tager interim and coach search all season or go after someone with experience.

    But I would rather they just keep Petrino.

  • No way he survives this. If the girl was just some random chick, or even a Co-Ed, MAYBE he would weather the storm, but she is a University employee that HE hired

    I feel sorry for the fiance, but at least he found out what she was BEFORE he tied the knot. Bobby P did him a huge favor

    We built pools for a few current and ex Falcons and I was at one doing a Warranty Repair on Friday evening. The guy is retired now but it is unbelievable how much the players on that team hated him. This dude had a smile on his face that you couldn't wipe off with battery acid.

    When you hear Warrick Dunn and Alge Crumpler openly talking about what a complete doucebag the guy was, you have to take that seriously, because you NEVER hear either one say a bad word about anyone

    There's not THAT much time between the start of the season. Arkie is halfway through springball so he'd have maybe 3-4 practices to implement a brand new system. He can't work with them over the summer so he'd basically be counting on the kids to learn the system on their own over the summer. Gus may eventually be the next guy in line, but it won't happen until next off seasonm UTK is right in that they'll promote from within and roll with what theyve got.

    True. Put yourself in Malzahn's shoes and think about what could possibly happen. IF it came about and he jumped ship to Arkansas and then failed completely or was just average and then fired, his career is pretty much over. Who would want to hire a ship jumper that ditched his first HC job before he ever coached a single game.

    I just don't see it happening. Too late in the game. Bringing in an outsider now would seriously throw everything even farther out of whack.
