I would imagine Steele's title game prediction is predicated on FSU and Oklahoma going undefeated, Oregon and USC splitting, and the SEC champ having one loss.

Agree. Whoever wins the USC v Oregon game has a good chance of running the table.

  • Interesting. I figure it's easier to predict the 4 major bowls than most of the lower ones. Kind of hard to tell the difference between a 6-6 team and an 8-4 team this early, but generally easier to figure out the teams with only 1 or 2 losses. Kind of surprised he's got FSU/OU in the title game with none of Oregon/Bama/LSU/USC making it.

    What're FSU's/OU's 2 toughest games each?

FSU's toughest could be Clemson and @VT/Florida. It really all depends on how those teams do if those are the toughest. Can't speak to OU. Nonetheless, Phil Steele got what he wanted out of his pre-season bowl predictions----your attention.

I am sure someone, somewhere has already posted his/her 2015 National Title predictions as well. There are miles to go before any of this even looks anything close to accurate.

Obviously. I was expecting them in the Liberty Bowl, so Music City is an upgrade. You can never make them happy unless you drop $200k in the offering plate.

He bases it all on returning talent and schedule, and plays the odds. Most of us know FSU will drop a game it shouldn't, but he's betting they won't. Even if they do, they should still win the ACC, and he still looks OK.

Very reasonable chance then. I don't know how much FSU has improved since last season, but I'd have to call them a favorite in those games. Just my opinion. UF could be a whole lot better this year, but it's just hard to say coming off a season like the last one.

  • didnt alot of people pick FSU and OU last yr? lol theres gonna be a SEC team why even try to deny it anymore

  • If we(WVU) did drop and not have the season we would expect. The Alamo Bowl vs Stanford is damn good for a fairly bad season. That is what I am looking forward to most in the big12. If we lose 4 games it can still be a good season with a good final game. In the big East if you went 8-4 you got matched up agaisnt a Conf USA or Mac school or a 6-6 team from a BCS

Plus the Alamo is in San Antonio. I am ready for some new venues

Also I do not believe he ever picked WVU to win the big east and we almost always did. He was always so high on USF and Pittsburgh "NFL Talent"

  • we have to blow everyone out of the water all year long, hope UF, Miami, Clemson, and VT ball out all year long and pray some of the other schools do better all year long to get into the title game

slotting us in the orange would be ok. LOL at USF in a BCS game.

You won't win nine. You have John L Smith for a coach.

I don't think FSU needs to blow anyone out of the water. They just need everyone in front of them to slip up. However, FSU will most likely play VT twice while USC will play Oregon twice.

The winner of the LSU/Bama game will get one slot unless they slip up along the road. I just don't see that happening, but who knows.

OU will play a couple of tough road games in Morgantown with WVU and TCU in Fort Worth. I think OU will slip up against one or both.
