Phone question

  • Think I need to be taken to school on this one, my cell phone is equipped with the finest technology of 1992, no lie. Time to upgrade and switch to AT&T because my employer has a deal to get a 21% discount with them. I want to be able to surf the net at work (so I can talk to you guys during slow times) Can anyone tell me what the difference is between messaging rates, talk rates and web rates? What's the difference between 3g and 4g? What are the better phones? What the heck is android vs the other technologies? Why do they come with USB adaptors to plug into computer other than to charge the battery, or is that it? Keep it simple for me please, I've recruited a teenager to show me how to work the damn thing when I get it ...

  • You can get an unlimited plan for under $100 with most providers now.

The usb can be used to charge the phone and transfer things like music, photos, and videos. Most phones have document programs like xl as well so if you do any work from your phone the usb gives you the ability to back up your work or transfer from one to the other either ease.

I couldn't tell you the difference between the droid platform and others. I have a droid now and before this I used a blackberry. It's my understanding though that android isn't nearly as restrictive but i could be wrong.

Can't help you an AT&T plans, but the two main developers are Android and Apple. Really it comes down to personal preference. With AT&T, you can get an iPhone or an Android. I have an Android (Galaxy S) because I'm with T-Mobile and I love it, but I'm sure I would love the iPhone too.

I would get an unlimited data plan no matter what. You'll use the internet on your phone a lot more than you think. 4G is just faster than 3G, but is available in less areas.

Like Msn said, the USB cords are for transferring data to and from the computer, but most phones come with a wall adapter to plug the USB in so it acts like a regular wall charger as well.

I've been with AT&T for years and have no
Complaints ( my company pays my bill and I buy my phones). I've had an iPhone for about 4-5 years now (currently using the 4) and love this thing. Does everything a phone could/should do and a lot more.

My wife and her family are on Verizon and have nothing but problems (dropped calls consistently) and her fairly new Samsung phone won't hold a charge for shit. My 2 cents says go for the iPhone. Good luck to ya.

    Go Blue and Go Titans!

  • Droid>iphone. I have owned both. Droid is a lot more customizable, bigger screen(much bigger screeb with the Note), higher specs on the droids that came out with iphone 4s.

Iphone is more user friendly. Its very easy to get used to, but lacks in features for me.

  • I have an android(My first smartphone) and there is a ton of stuff on it. More so than apple products so i have read and heard, but if you literally have no clue about how to work the stuff then go with an apple product(IPhone4s). It isn't that hard to learn android stuff at all, but apple stuff is easier. And go with something with 4g capabilities, if you aren't in a 4g location you can still get 3g and it doesn't work vice versa lol
