Damn that's sad man. Prayers sent Dave

I spoke with him this morning and he's trying to work his way through it all. Dave is a great young person.

Very sad, he's in my thoughts and prayers.

Since the unfortunate news of Lauren's passing is public, I feel it's important to let the Hookem.com and 247sports community know how amazing Dave has been in dealing with an extremely difficult and emotional situation.

I didn't know Dave before we both took a chance and changed jobs to become a part of Hookem.com in December. He worked on the other side of the Austin-American Statesman newsroom and our paths never crossed. Truthfully, our paths haven't crossed much since we started working together as Dave has spent much of the time at Lauren's side in the hospital.

I will say this. I've never seen anybody deal with emotional adversity as well as Dave has since I've known him. That's not blowing smoke or exaggerating. No matter what was going on he was extremely upbeat and positive about everything from work to his personal life, including Lauren's health. In fact, he was so amazing I often found myself forgetting he was dealing with such a horrible and unfortunate circumstance.

I still don't know Dave as well as I'd like to. But there are two things I do know: He's a class act and a good person.

Dave, as I told you earlier today, my thoughts and prayers are with you, Lauren and your families. You have my (and this community's) full support. Don't hesitate to ask if you need anything. We're here for you.
