Yea I can see that it's not like i put Miami for everyone I put WR and TE and I would even admit that LSU has done better in the DB department recently.

  • QB: USC
RB: USC but the recent ones have been busts , this is like a 5 way tie
WR: dont know, no one stands out to me
TE : Miami, and no homer here but Georgia recently...
OL: when you think of OL you think Wisconson, im sure theres a better team here though
    DL: LSU
LB : PSU, Bama catching up FAST
DB : hard to put a non-SEC school here... Im not sure though

  • I'm going by more recent player since I'm 23 so I'm only putting players I've actually seen play football.

QB U: USC (Palmer, Cassell, Leinart, Sanchez, Barkley, etc)
RB U: Miami (James, Portis, McGahee, Payton, Gore, Miller, etc)
WR U: Ohio State (Jenkins, Ginn, Holmes, Hartline, Posey, Sanzenbacher, Robiskie, Gonzalez, etc)
OL U: Wisonsin (Thomas, Konz, Zietler, Carimi, Moffit, Nagy, alot of TE's, etc)
DL U: LSU (Montgomery, Spears, Dorsey, Mingo, Brockers, Jackson, etc)
LB U: Penn State (Arrington, Polulzny, Conner, Lee, Bowman, etc)
DB U: Ohio State (Winfield, Springs, Doss, Jenkins, Whitner, Gambell, Coleman, etc)

If you think Alabama is Running Back U, you should lay off the drugs or whatevfer you are smoking. I can easliy think of at least 5 or 10 teams with a better running back tradition than bammer, including Auburn

  • Give it a few more years and Alabama will be LB U, IMO.

Penn State is LB U. They came up with the term, they get to use it. It's not a conditional thing that gets re-evaluated every couple of years.

They may have coined it, but our LB tradition is second to none.

That and the offensive line are our specialties. We're not even close on RB. While we've had much success there with Alexander, Humphrey, Lassic, Williams, Richardson, Coffee, Stacy, and Ingram over the last 25 years we're not on the level of a USC or Auburn.

Who is PSU's tradition second to?

Traditionally, we're more than up there. And even though we're in something of a valley right now, PSU LB's still dominate the pro ranks. The term "LB U" often refers to performance in the NFL as well as how they do at the collegiate level.

  • Auburn fans, please list your RBs because you guys have had some good ones since the late 1970s-present. William Andrews, Joe Cribbs, James Brooks, Lionel "Little Train" James, Bo Jackson, Brent Fullwood, Stephen Davis, Rudy Johnson, Carnell "Cadillac" Williams, Ronnie Brown.

Bama fans, list our elite LBers as I think we've surpassed Penn St as we've probably had ~10-12 All-Amercans/1st Rounders/Pro Bowlers including the likes of EJ Junior, Cornelius Bennett, Derrick Thomas, Keith McCants, Dwayne Rudd, Demeco Ryans, Rolando McClain, Courtney Upshaw, Dont'a Hightower.

  • Michigan State has a solid enough list to be in the conversation for WR U.

    Gene Washington
Kirk Gibson, All-American Flanker playing 2 sports.
    Andre Rison
    Daryl Turner
    Mark Ingram Sr.
    Muhsin Muhammad
    Derrick Mason
    Courtney Hawkins
    Plaxico Burress
    Charles Rogers

    New NFL guys
    Devin Thomas
    Mark Dell
    B.J. Cunningham
    Keyshawn Martin

  • Why is USC QB U? Maybe in the past 5 years, but their overall quarterback tradition isn't that impressive.

QBs that started an NFL game are in bold.

Here's the Trojan Quarterbacks of the last 20 years:
    Matt Barkley
    Mitch Mustain
    Aaron Corp
    Mark Sanchez
    John David Booty
    Matt Leinart
    Carson Palmer
    Mike Van Raaphorst
    John Fox
    Brad Otton
    Kyle Wachholtz
    Rob Johnson
    Reggie Perry

As a comparison, here's Michigan's starting QBs of the past 20 years:
    Denard Robinson
    Tate Forcier
    Steven Threet
    Chad Henne
    John Navarre
    Drew Henson
    Tom Brady
    Brian Griese
    Scott Dreisbach
    Todd Collins
    Elvis Grbac

You're right I couldn't think of any off the top of my head but there are plenty of schools more deserving than bama.
