Positive side for OU fans

  • Landry Jones is done. The fact that he went 4 years as a starter in college football is beyond me. He is the college version of Tony Romo and Mark Sanchez combined, IMO.

  • There is no positive side when you get your ass kicked! Landry wasn't the problem its the boy wonder of an off coordinator that's the problem. The only positive is if he gets demoted but Bob won't do that to his golden boy!

Oh ... I thought you were just going to say the game is finally over.

  • Yeah Landry is gone but I'm not sure Blake Bell will be any better. The 2 QB's that have me thinking positive is a red shirt sophomore Kendal Thompson and red shirt freshman Trevor Knight.

Wouldn't shock me if Bell isn't the starter next season.

  • The vibe I'm getting its already his to lose. Its has been said it will be an open competition but right now I'm not sure I believe that is going to be the case, but that's just my opinion.

  • I'm a fan of OU...prolly my second favorite team.

But from what I've seen--and even though I think OP is correct in equating Landry Jones to Tony Romo--QB isn't the primary problem. WTF ever happened to OU having elite talent all over the field??? Where are the Tommy Harris, Geral Mccoy, Jermaine Grisham, Rocky Calmus caliber players OU customarily has all over the field.

I love me some Stoops, but seems to me he and his staff better get their recruiting shit together stat if they aspire to attain levels of prior OU excellence...otherwise it looks to be season after season of decent but not excellent football.

Has Stoops lost the fire in the belly???

OU's problem is subpar defense. Stoops has spent all his time and effort building this newfangled no-huddle ultra hurry-up offense and in the process he's let the D become mediocre. You can beat most teams with just a great offense, but not the very elite teams. To beat the very elite teams, you need an elite D. OU has an average D and A&M proved that by shredding it tonight.

No doubt their D is very mediocre, but the O is no longer elite either.

I totally agree about the D, bit I would also ask, where is the dominant OL?

I thought aTm was likely to win--mostly because of OU's deficiencies on D-- but I sure as hell expected that they'd put some points on the board and keep pace enough to keep it close
