My blue, Gauge, does have a ginormous head. I'm wondering how big he will get if he fills out more.
Any thoughts on raw diet? I know it's common in some circles and I played with it a little with Cheerio when she got sick. Thinking it might be good for Gauge, maybe if I supplemented his kibble with it. No chance with Starry right now, too many GI issues from her medical history.

Mine don't do good with raw anything. I actually got into a phase where I would buy the frozen bags of chicken breasts from Wal-Mart and mix that in with their dry food (Eukanuba at the time) after cooking it fully and it would give them the shits way too often. Now I swear by Blue Buffalo.

left to right. bro in laws rat dog lola (she's my baby) dusty (she's heavily medicated on anti anxiety pills) bro in laws boxer, good dog casino (he's gay, but proud) otis (he's retarded and happy)
fwiw lola has had severe hip problems since she was young and could barely go up and down the steps. we had to quit running her and taking her on walks and somehow it's gotten exponentially better. good luck.

She has some pretty major emotional issues to go with her medical issues. I posted a pic from when the rescue found her on the last page. Very timid dog and hardly left her cage the first couple weeks we had her. Getting Gauge totally boosted her confidence and turned her into a different dog, though she is still always worried she something wrong.
Gauge is pretty much the opposite. As we like to say, Gauger don't care, Gauger doesn't give a sh*t, he does what he wants.

How are they as puppies? How expensive is the upkeep? How do I get one in a solid coat like BTBR's? Are the social/playful? How long to they live? Good watchdogs? Good with kids?

It's efficiency and not efficacy. You deserved that.
