Power Rankings of the SEC programs

  • IMO, ATM is too high. They'll likely need a year to adjust (which isn't anything to be ashamed of).

You shouldn't, they always have good recruiting classes and still monumentally under achieve. They are going to run a air raid offense, have zero defensive talent and haven't beaten a single SEC team in something like a decade. The SEC gained a huge TV market and a piece of crap football program.

    1. Alabama - Appears to be headed for an incredible run. 2. LSU - Say what you want about Miles, LSU isn't going anywhere. 3. Florida - Is Florida, they'll be back. 4. Georgia - Not so much UGA being great, but more UF and UT being down for a couple years. CMR underachieves, but is a solid coach and will have UGA atop the east for the next 3-4 years. 5. Texas A&M - I think being the only Texas program in the SEC will do wonders for A&M and they could put a stranglehold on that 3rd spot in the SEC West that Arkansas and Auburn have been fighting for. 5/6. Arkansas - Baffles me a little, ultimately I see Petrino leaving for Texas, but if he stays they could be higher on this list. I just don't see them beating UA & LSU on a regular basis. 6. Auburn - If I'm wrong about A&M, then flip 5 and 6. AU sits in a great area for recruiting and will do whatever it takes/costs to be atop the SEC (i.e. facilities etc...not a Newton jab). 7. South Carolina - Like AU they sit in a good recruiting area and enjoy being in the SEC East. 8. Missouri - Like USCe they're in the East and will enjoy stability with Gary Pinkel, arguably Missouri's best coach in their program's history. They remind me of UGA w/o the instate talent to pull from. 9. Tennessee - I have to believe that they'll right the ship eventually, but not in the next 2-3 years. 10-13 - Aren't touching the top of this list so it doesn't matter.

    What dickbird post.

Says the man whose team constantly has top 5 recruiting classes but can only beat A&M by a last second field goal and wasnt even bowl eligible the year before. This is a "what have you done for me lately" world, and to be honest, NEITHER has done ANYTHING recently. (dont you even think about bringing up that 09 NC game either... embarrassing)

I can dig this list. Auburn and Florida are interchangeable at this point with me, but I would have USCe ahead of UGA and maybe bump Mizzou up a spot or two.

Also, as much as I like Vandy ahead of Tennessee, that's just because of Dooley Syndrome.

    Overall, a fair list though.

    Somebody sounds jealous. shrug

At least they have an offense that you know. No one has a clue what type of offense Texas runs. I would call it the "spread them out wide and hope the QB doesn't crap themselves" option.

The 09 game was only 2 year previous so yeah I don't know what world you live in but that's recent. I'm not sure what is embarrassing about that game either, we lost our runner-up Heisman QB and Garret freaking Gilbert brought us back to within 3 with 3 minutes to play in that game. F you aggies are dumb!

and BetterOff the day I'm jealous of aggy is the day I die, I am pumped that they are in the SEC. Icannot wait for next season and the melt down that will ensue when they win 4 games and are gathering their pitchforks.

Someone that didn't care or wasn't jealous wouldn't still be posting about them.

  • Eventually Petrino's lack of recruiting will bite him in the arse! No way he can keep getting more outta less in the SEC. Nutt did that for a little while. Now he's sank to the bottom of the SEC!

  • A&M shouldn't be any higher than 8 or 9 on these lists until they can prove to not be mediocre. The 9 years we had Fran and Sherman were just abysmal. Fran got lazy because he thought he would jump to the NFL, and Sherman had too much of an NFL mentality. I'm excited to see what Sumlin can with a staff full of proven recruiters/pretty solid coaches. IF Sumlin is the guy, you could see A&M competing in the SEC West in 2-3 years.

    Something like that

    Wow. Just wow.

Clearly you must not follow the SEC. Otherwise you would be aware of the plans to add The Citadel and Jacsonville University

Which would obviously drop us down to 16. headslap

  • Auburn just hired the DC who is one of the main reasons Richt still has so much leeway with UGA higher-ups. If Auburn can get its defense fixed, we can certainly win consistently at a high level.

Smart man. Auburn is a much better program that UGA. Don't know why but both football and basketball at UGA should be elite and both are sub par. They have thed wrong coach, but the problems run much deeper.

    Agree.

Personally, I hope they move AU to the East. I think aTm can become a dynamic program and the East needs a school that can consistantly compete with Florida. If UT can return or USCe take that next step, along with AU balances the conference much more.

Yea and I am not so much comparing them to Auburn but just in general. Petrino has never even won the SEC West. I would say Bama, LSU, UGA, UF would all be ahead of Arky and you could argue that Auburn might be ahead of them as well.

True, but his first year he started 17 Freshman and won 5 games. the next year they were only sophmores and won 7 or 8. The last two years, they have been in the thick of the SEC race.

Arkansas is pretty high on these lists for never having won even an SEC championship.

Because they had to adjust to SEC play, then had to suffer through 10+years of nutt. The #1 thing hurting them is the state population. Not enough kids in Arkansas.
