  • 8-4, losses to Michigan, Wisconsin, Ohio State, and either Nebraska or Notre Dame. If Maxwell proves to be a good QB they could easily go 10-2.

    -@ Central Michigan -WIN.. yea, think it's cool they are playing up there- CMU calling it the biggest game in their history at their stadium.. doesn't happen that often, but it's only 1hr North of MSU

    I'm watching the last minute drive from last years bowl game and Kirk Cousins was spectacular. He put passes on a dime. He was also the winningest QB in MSU history. I don't know how in the world Maxwell doesn't skip at least a couple beats.

    That was a very solid drive by Cousins.. that was basically his only solid drive the entire game and almost cost MSU the W in OT with his INT..

    He also started 3 years and MSU's history wasn't that spectacular to begin with..and while his leadership will surely be missed- he also didn't really "win" MSU any games (sans Wisconsin- always had their #)- played like piss vs ND, Neb, was less than impressive vs OSU, UM, UGA...

    If I'm ever going to feel comfortable with a new QB, it'll be a 4th year RS JR Elite 11 finalist at the helm

    How will he perform? Who knows.. we'll find out soon enough

    BSU - This is the first game for both teams and Petersen has proven repeatedly that if you give him plenty of time to prepare he's tough to beat. Oregon. VaTech. UGA. They do it every year and I don't see this game being any different.

    ND - Both teams have new QBs and lost their best WRs, but MSU will have a much better defense. And the game is in EL. It won't be pretty, but I think Sparty wins a close one.

    I would agree with your Boise State analysis if this was any year from 2008-2011. It just ain't going to happen.

    I disagree. No one heard of Kellen Moore until his first year. And MSU lost a ton on offense themselves. Petersen is a much better (and more creative) offensive coach than Dantonio and he had nothing to do all offseason but scheme to beat MSU's defense. And BSU rarely makes mistakes. Don't bet against them.

    They weren't replacing 15 starters when he started out either.
