Prop 8 ruled unConstitutional

My sexual orientation wasn't a choice so I feel like it was natural. What I do in my bedroom isn't hurting anybody else or society as a whole so I think it should be legal.

Exactly. I didn't choose to be heterosexual, I just am and always have been. They didn't choose to be homosexual, they just always have been. In fact, to imply that someone would choose a life where, in most parts of this country, you'll be ridiculed and insulted quite often, potentially on a daily basis, is ludicrous.

I've already once mentioned in this thread that my comparison to slavery was apples to oranges. However, for you to sit there and act like the past decades of endless ridicule that homosexuals in this country have faced, especially the rampant mistreatment of gay young adults, many of whom have committed suicide because of this, is pretty upsetting to say the least. If you don't agree with their lifestyle choices that's okay, you have that right. But it's not stopping there. People are figuratively stoning these people in the streets.

I'm betting many blacks wished they were figuratively hung.

Always been my argument on why Auburn fans are Auburn fans. Makes no sense to me.

Your attempt to downplay the current issue because it doesn't "stack up" to the horrific display that was slavery in the United States is appalling IMO. I guess it's just okay to hate people. It's the American way. We did it with the natives, we did it with blacks, we did it with asians, we did it with women, we did it with muslims, might as well do it with gays, eh?

i dont even know how to respond to your comments other than to say that you have lost all perspective on this issue - to compare the rights of gays to marry to slavery is beyond comprehension ... please dont even attempt to make that comparison ..please no

Can you not grasp the concept that something can be more than one thing at the same time? Have a literal and interpretative meaning? Various connotations?

    Natural is reproduction.

Only Dolphins and primates have recreational sex. Other than that, sex is for reproduction.

My biology professor at AU told us that there are two things in that can occur in nature.
    Natural Things
    Abnormal Things.

    1. The comparison was never fully utilized. I've stated that twice.

    2. Gay marriage is but the tip of the proverbial iceberg that is treating homosexuals like human beings. There's a reason kids are killing themselves and it's not because they're being showered with love for being gay. I'll bet it's the insults, the death threats, the beatings, et al.

The only thing that makes me want to leave Alabama sometimes is the in-your-faceness of some people about politics and religion.

They watch too much fox news. Rather than have an actual talk or debate, they just starting going crazy and attacking

I'm not arguing over homosexuality, because I don't care what others do.

I am arguing over "Abnormal" versus "Natural" in Nature.

  • The way I see it. If Prop 8 doesn't have any impact on you, you don't even need to discuss it. Therefore I assume you're all gay.

By the definitions you stated earlier homosexuality would be considered abnormal. And I see no reason why in that context anyone should have a problem with that.

Well, technically speaking, no form of sex other than vaginal intercourse is truly "natural" if we're talking in a reproductive sense.

I agree with you that gay marriage should be allowed, but that's not going to stop the insults, beatings, etc.

It's a step in the right direction. I'm sure people said the same thing when women's suffrage happened and after the Civil Rights Movement was successful. I'm not saying the treatment of women or blacks in the U.S. is perfect but it's come a long way over the last century.

  • In my state they said "do you believe marriage should be between one man & one woman" if you agreed with this you voted yes. If not you voted No. There were 7 other states voting on the same issue that day. All states including california upheld marriage between 1 man 1 woman principals. Some were overturned by un-elected judges. Any time judges over turn the will of the people it is wrong!!!!
