QB Jeremy Johnson Says He's Gone if AU Fires Chizik

  • I should probably put a disclaimer on this topic so I don't have to deal with the Blue Board children later. I'm not saying we are going to sign him. In fact, I bet we don't. What I am saying is, we should go after him hard. To me, Johnson has always been the type of player that will either be amazing or never play a down. I don't think there is an in between with him. But I would rather take a guy like that than a QB like Parker that I think will never crack to two deep.

Bye, Jeremy. If Auburn cans Chizik and hires Petrino, he would be retarded not to stick with his commitment.

Jeremy Johnson with Bobby Petrino coaching him would be VERY dangerous. Unfortunately, our president doesn't give two shits about football or is too retarded to realize this.

perhaps Chizik's "its not all work here enviroment" is what lured him to the farm ?
or maybe the opp to get drunk mid-week with his future center and personal protector ?

It’s funny the Bama talk since he said himself that if he leaves Auburn, it would be for Ole Miss.

Again, I’m not sure we have room either with Buchanan, Kincade and we all think Liggins gets a shot at QB. Bo Wallace is also only a Soph. It would be very crowded.

Who said he would come to Bama if he left Auburn?

He's a kid from Alabama that most of us like better than our 2nd QB recruit. Weedline has liked this kid for a year now. He is stating that he hopes we go after him if he decides he doesn't want to go to Auburn this year.

Personally, I doubt he would be concerned about who is at Ole Miss if he decides to go there. Liggins will not be a QB at Ole Miss.

We don't have a quality depth chart at QB. AJ is great, but if he goes pro after this year we are in trouble.

Blake Sims is not an SEC QB. He can't throw the ball very well. If you look at him throwing it in the A Day game, he has a terrible arm. Not just accuracy, but he looks like a WR trying to throw the ball. He has no arm strength at all and the ball wobbles. He can run, but throwing the ball would be few and far between. No way Saban, who hates turnovers worse than Aids, would let him throw the ball around the field. He would be a liability and end up on the bench.

Ely has decent form and accuracy, but his arm is very, very weak. He has trouble throwing a 10 yard out route to the other side of the field. The DB cuts and his lack of arm strength gives said DB time to break on the ball. He's a pick 6 waiting to happen. I'd be pretty surprised if he ever plays a meaningful snap. Smart kid, bad arm. At least Sims can run

Morris might be our best option. He'll be a rFR, though. He has good arm strength and size, he just doesn't have the accuracy yet. But he's very young and you can't expect him to. If he does not step up and fast, we are in big trouble on offense. I don't know too many starting rFR QB's that have been successful in the SEC before. Or for that matter, a 3 star rFR QB's. There will be growing pains with him at QB and road games in big venues will be a nightmare. He will have to learn on the job. This will cost us probably a few games.

Bateman will be counted on to come in and compete for the top 2 spots as a true freshman. He's the future, and the only guy who can bail us out eventually if Morris ends up sucking. That's why it is soooo important to hit on a QB in this class. That's why two QB's (like Johnson) would increase those odds so much more and be very beneficial. Parker will never play. He has already been beaten out at his high school by an underclassman. He is terrible. If we could sign both Bateman and Johnson, I think at least one would pan out. It would at least give us another option.

I've posted about this a million times before on here, but if AJ goes pro after this year we are in serious trouble at the QB spot. It will be one of the worst QB situations in the SEC. That's why missing out on Winston and Kiel last year was so big. We can't miss this year. We need to cut Parker lose or offer him a greyshirt and go after Johnson IMO.

  • I have serious doubt AJ will be going to the NFL. His mom seems dead set against it and I think he's gonna have some solid advice around him. Not to mention the weapons he will have returning around him next year. Maybe I'm hoping more than anything. We'll see.

I do too and have argued he would stay just about every day for a month. But a few guys on Rivals (Bama fans) are insistent that he is gone. They are saying he has already told everyone he is leaving. I have no info either way, it just doesn't make sense for him to. That would cost him millions of dollars. We really need him to stay

Every QB should take a note from the Peyton Manning playbook. Perfect your craft for 4 years, graduate early and concentrate on nothing but football their Senior Year. I think AJ is staying and I think those saying he's gone on Rivals are retarded.

Liggins is 265 right now. In this spread/option offense, I wouldnt doubt for a moment he could be a beast at QB. I agree that he most likely wont be though. I actually like Kincade above Ryan, Johnson or Liggins though.

I am pretty sure I am in the minority, but I like taking a guy like Parker as a 2nd QB. He has the size and potential to be a solid SEC QB. Does he look like a future star? No. But only taking potential future stars is what put us in the hole we are in right now at backup QB. Guys like Parker are typically more inclined to sit and wait their turn to start, even if it is just for 1-2 years, as opposed to guys like Sims who transfer when they are beat out. They are typically prepared very well when they get their shot and if we had a guy like that in his redshirt sophomore year on the bench right now, we wouldn't be freaking out every time AJ goes down like we are. And I believe he is a guy who will develop into a pretty good QB much like McElroy.

imo Oxford would be a better choice for JJ and while i like Wallace's potential and feel Buchanan may be one of the most underrated signal callers for 13' im not sold on Liggins under center or Kincade's future at the position outside of wildcat formations.

crowded doesnt always equal "crowded". nevertheless from the outside looking in ? things are looking up at the Grove.

I would agree with you if we had a decent QB situation and were trying for depth. The reality of the situation is we need someone to come in now and compete. Two guys competing at a high level gives us a better chance of one panning out. We can't afford to miss. We have at least two Parker's already on campus. We don't need a backup, we need a starter and Parker can't even start for his own high school right now.

i said during McCarron's junior season in High School that he would be an a 3 year starter & Senior Bowl QB.
AJ is not turning Pro early but once he does graduate and move on.....

Bateman or another very underappreciated young QB (Alec Morris) will be more than ready to take the helm.
but untill then we have what we have.

Anyone who says they know what AJ is going to do before the season is even over is FOS. If he closed out the season very strong against good competition, and won another NC, then who knows what might happen. If he had a great draft grade and ended being projected as a 1st round draft pick then Saban himself would encourage AJ to go pro. Will that happen???? If he graded well, I don't see how he could possibly benefit himself coming back since we should be replacing 3 OL. Fluker should come back and play G next year IMO.

If AJ jumps, then we may be looking at Ely or Sims next year. I'm not going to just assume rFr Morris or Fr Bateman would be our starter since niether have ever played a live snap on the college level. That is not a good situation to be in.

    no

-AJ is not a 1st rnd QB (among this years crop)
    -he's not leaving early
-he will be the South's starter in the Sr Bowl & the Tide's starter in 13'
-Bama will somehow miraculously survive AJ's departure from the Capstone

Milliner on the other hand could be the 1st CB off the board....he's gone. coffee
