Question for Bama fans

  • I see y'all landed a wideout yesterday, Deon Johnson. Are you guys not planning on offering Demarcus Robinson or Carlos Burse? And if so, any insight into why not? Both have us as leaders but a Bama offer would change that. Just wondering how your WR board stacks up.

Former UF commit, Pagan, looks like a freak out there.

When did Demarcus Robinson name you his leader?

Demarcus does seem to have Florida as his leader and I really don't think we will offer him soon. Not really based on his performance or anything, but based on what our needs are. We are pretty set at WR with the guys we have brought in the last couple of years and are going to be very picky at that position this cycle. QB, OL, DL, and CB are out main needs at the moment that we are going after, Seems like your battle for him will be UGA and Clemson.

Same for Burse, but I would think that if you guys were ready for him to commit that he probably would pretty soon.

I don't think Johnson was a huge need for us, but with his kind of speed, you don't want to pass up when you have a chance to get a guy like that. I also doubt he is actually going to count in this class as he has a lot of work to do in the classroom and maybe a guy that we won't see until the 2014 class after he can get some work done at a JUCO.

Johnson has very little chance of getting into school and will more than likely go JUCO. His commitment will more than likely have no affect on who else we take on this class. With that said, I have no idea about the other two guys you mentioned. I know we feel good about Dejon Funderburke out of Pensacola and Marqui Hawkins out of Columbus, but I'm not sure if either are high on our board.

  • I don't think we're to high on Burse or Robinson.
Robert Foster is the top wide out left on our board.
Deon Johnson I think he ends up a CB if he goes the JUCO route.
Raheem Falkins is a Wr commit.
Ardarius Stewart is a Wr commit.
That's 2 wide outs committed already, if we don't land foster I think we take one more Wr but I'm not sure who.
Weedline mentioned Funderburke who I think if we took his commitment would be CB.
We're pretty loaded at Wr so I think the coaching staff are being cautious on what commits they take.

blank you mean DE. If I label anybody a god on our defense it would be Fanning this kid will be a lottery pick as long as he stays healthy. He is scary good.

He's got the build, but I want to see it put together in a game first. Played a little soft at times yesterday. Gotta get that motor cranking.

Imagine if Upshaw had his body type.

I agree. He needs to have a consistent motor and not give up on plays but I think it will all click for him sooner rather than later. He is just a red shirt freshman. With that said I still think we will see him on the field this year for sure.

I think he plays this year for sure. He would be a great guy inside on 3rd downs, just needs the consistancy to be able to play all 3 downs and be good against the run as well.

Pagan seems more well rounded right now, but Fanning does have a better upside to him.

Hubbard, Stinson, Square, and Dial are going to make for a great 3rd down front 4 this year, with Fanning, Love, Pettway, and Anderson right behind them.

I thought contingent on their 3-4 defensive scheme; he's an outside linebacker &/or defensive end.

    confused

    ... Fanning .... Yeah a beast.

Do you think this is the best DL we've had under Saban? I do. Every guy on the DL can move, they aren't there to just take up space they can really rush the passer.

Time will tell my fellow Bammer. I'm still wrapping my head around the 3 4 defense I saw yesterday during Aday game. I swear I saw Pagan off the line in OLB spot - shoulda checked out who was n his place. I May b wrong though my friend. If so, my apologies

    As far as pure DL.....yes.

Tough to beat a front 4 in passing situations that includes Upshaw and Hightower though.
