I've been in Texas for almost 4yrs now after living in California and Utah my whole life; I never hear people here say y'all. I am thoroughly disappointed.

Because there's no need to make we and they plural by adding "all" and then forming a contraction. The collective "you" can sometimes need clarification. Some people add "guys" and others add "all" to indicate it is plural and not singular. Also, no one ever says "they guys" for the same reason.

I've never heard anyone under 70 use the term sodapop, but pop is the correct usage.
We do, however, have a problem with putting s's on the end of things that don't need them. For example, a Walmart isn't a Walmart, it's Walmarts.

a teacher I had in junior high used them interchangeably. Hell when I was in Oregon it was both too haha
