Nadal looks like an idiot for not playing in a grass tournament pre Wimbledon, he never adjusted to the faster surface and never flattened out his groundstrokes. His mind was playing on clay while his body was playing on grass.

Thats probably as good an explanation as any. Judging from the interview, Rosol was hitting the ball pretty damn good with a lot of pace as well.

Nadal didn't look good in the first round either even though he won in straight sets. Bellucci was out hitting him in the first set before he fell apart.

Nadal played in Halle, Germany, which is a grass-court tournament/Wimbledon tuneup. I watched the match and Rosol absolutely went for broke on every shot and was making way more than he was missing. Sometimes guys just tree and Rosol just had one of those days.

I agree with this. He's the second best player in the world on other surfaces. He's the greatest of all time on clay. So, yeah, relatively speaking, he's weaker off clay.
