I doubt we are talking about it in 3 months, butt <--(see what I did there) if we are, then it will be serious.

ND is too low, I think.

I went back and forth on them. Then I decided that I was going to really look at the landscape presently and not look back too far. Hard to say it is a better job than Arkansas or Boise St at the moment, but I can't group Arkansas and Boise with the likes of UGA, Auburn, Wisconsin and Va Tech.

  • ND is a tough call.

I can see a 5* argument for them, i can see a 3* argument for them. I'd settle on 4*'s but it's a tough call.

Lots of money, tradition, boosters. Great academics, huge football alumni in the Pro's...but...

Huge expectations, cold weather, difficult home recruiting grounds, not in a conference.

I agree. I kind of looked at it and tried to asses each schools chance of competing for a National title year in and year out within the next few years. and went from there.

  • Nice list BetterOff. I agree with essentially all of it. Like you and others have said ND is tough, but if you're weighting it more off the last 15-20 years then the 3 star is deserved. South Carolina is only a 4 star off recent success and Spurrier. They're a .500 program otherwise.

  • There are about 3-5 4* jobs that should be three.

Auburn is a better job than Clemson, Miami, or South Carolina... no knock on either... we are just way better than both.

  • Are u taking the current state of the Miami program into consideration here? Cuz if not id say that would b an easy 5*. I could see how terrible fan support could knock them down to a 4* tho.

Miami should be a 3 along with Clemson and SC especially if Arkansas is a 3

Didn't take history in to account that much. USCe currently and in recent history is up there with the heavyweights, IMO.

Auburn would definitely be a higher 4 * than those and maybe Miami should drop to 3 * status, but USCe and Clemosn I feel are both low 4*s if I went into more depth.

  • Y? They r in one of the best areas for high schol football in the US arguably the best, strong media appeal , n its a NFL factory. Its a better job than Auburn IMO. Again if we r taking into fact the current state of the program that changes everything.

The facilities and Auburn gets recruits out of Miami like they are located down there...We also recruit better, play in a better conference, and can pay a lot more.

  • Why is PSU a 4* job?

We've been down for a bit, but the potential there is enormous. There is no other strong NE team, and our alumni and boosters are committed to winning.

Also, even though I don't like them, ND at 3*, and WV at 4*? Just not right.

EDIT: Not to mention tremendous facilities, arguably the best in the nation, and a phenomenal winning tradition.

    For sure. Definitely close.

WVU is a better job right now. Doesn't seem right, but it is.
