  • Barrett Jones, with another good year and some more hardware, has a very, very good chance at being a CFB Hall of Famer.

If LaMichael James had not gone pro he likely would have broken the cfb all-time rushing record. He is only 1315 yards off the record.

JMO and feel free to call homer but Ingram was better than the other three. Ingram played against MUCH better defenses than Luck or Griffin. Plus, Luck choked several times in big games, throwing picks that cost them games. That being said, he faced better defenses than Griffin.

Rankings aren't based purely on college production. They're done with the NFL as the final goal. Ingram isn't in the class of the other 3(or some in the other group in the OP) as a pro prospect. I'm a Saints fan and am glad we have Ingram but come on, he's not on the same level as those 3. In terms of pure talent Peterson is #1. Not many like him running around. Freak is an overused word but he is one.

the QB position is more valuable than RB

Rankings aren't done with the NFL as the final goal. I am not arguing with what you are saying, as I would have AJ, Julio, PP, Luck, Dareus, Hightower, and maybe one or two more ahead of Ingram, but the ratings are done for college productivity, not the NFL.

If it was for the NFL, no way would T. Pryor been the number one player in 2008 to begin with.

You can check with any staff member and they will tell you that they look for college potential. If it was done with the NFL in mind, you would never see an undersized player ever as a 5*.

Agreed, we are rating players based on what their college production was and skills are as opposed to what initial rankings out of HS are based on which is HS productivity, measurables, skills, etc. NFL should not come into this at all.

  • Anyone remember Darrell Scott? He showed up as a highly touted 5* RB and was beat out by a 5'6 2* RB named Rodney Stewart.

Our 2008 class was ranked #15 and most of the players have either severely underachieved or washed out long ago.

  • Not counting all the off field stuff it's Pryor and not even close. Would have been Sugar Bowl MVP, Rose Bowl MVP, National Championship MVP and Heisman. Have to go with Luck.

Yes, because his whole college career should be based off of his performance against a very poor Michigan team. That makes sense.
