I actually went to school at Ole Miss my freshman year, and I can honestly say it's the most racist place I've ever been to. Very much the "old south" still hanging on...and very "preppy" and rich white families make all the decisions. And...I'm white, btw. Why do you think the administration keeps trying to get rid of the rebel flags and Colonel Reb? Doing all they can to try and cover up the "true" feelings of the rebel alums and their kids.

I am 34 years old and have lived most of my life (all but 6 years in Atlanta) in the great state of Mississippi. I am a public school teacher and football coach. You should see the kids now. They don't think in black or white anymore. They just see each other as people. While racism does still exist, it is a far cry from what it was when I was a kid and it's crazy that you think it's specific to MS. Racism is a learned behavior on all sides. What you learn at home sticks with you. People like you are why racism still exist. Grow up and help change it instead of making it worse!

37% of people in Mississippi are African American! Which is the most per capita in any state. And 17% of Ole Miss' student body is African American which is in the top 90th percentile of all public universities that aren't historically black colleges.

It's misinformed people that are led by agenda driven media that keep us in the past. We are ready to move foward!!!

Also our student body president and homecoming queen are both black. How many " rascist universities" can say that?

Last thing. Before you make general assumptions about people from Mississippi, as a student of Ole Miss right now I can tell you that it is not usually the people from MS that are rascist, but usually it's people that make up the 40 plus % of out of state students. They think the cool thing to do is come in and be racist and its not. The people that were arrested for the "RIOTS" we're from Greenville, South Carolina. Yet Ole Miss and Mississippi take the blame
