No doubt. What's the word with Auburn and Khaliel Rodgers?

Yeah, we Auburn fans definitely understand being left with inferior talent from a previous administration. At least you guys were lucky enough not to have your rival stockpiling NFL talent during that time. .

inferior talent ? you mean like Tubby's near 30 seniors that were in the cupboard for 2010 ?

Seems to be a lot of good vibes around him. Word is he has a firm offer (our mod previously thought he didn't), and he's supposed to visit within a couple of weeks.

  • 247sports- Best Overall
ESPN- 2nd best- but biased towards athletes that attend NFTC/SPARQ events and more likely to invite these athletes to Under Armour Game and extend them a rating bump.

Rivals/Scout- seem to be getting worse each year. Rivals is "super" biased to recruits that attend their camps as these recruits get major rating bumps and US Army All-American Game invites. SE Analyst for Scout said a kid that plays RB that won the Youth National Championship in the 110m hurdles and was 6th at Youth Nationals in the 100m dash in 2011 in the 10.6x-10.7x range "doesn't have that 2nd gear". I told him via thread comment that if a kid that wins the 110m hurdles and finishes 6th in the 100m at Nationals isn't fast enough....... I guess only Usain Bolt, Tyson Gay or Yohan Blake have a 2nd gear.

I'm more critical of RB rankings as most services give too much credit to Combine and Camps. I understand a Camp perhaps impacting the ranking of a QB, WR or DB but OLine, DLine, LBers and RBs should be evaluated 90-95% in pads in a game. I've known many dudes that were shorts-t-shirt All- Stars that weren't that good running the ball in pads.

With that, the site that seems to understand a combine warrior doesn't necessarily mean great RB is The Ringer. They've stated that combines/camps are a small aspect of their RB evaluations but they primarily rely on game performances. Interesting to see in 4-5 years which method is best. I expect game performance/film evaluations (for RBs).

  • Taquan Mizzell, RB, Bayside, VA

    247Sports, #21 RB (including APBs), #6 APB, #172 overall
    Rivals, #6 RB, #43 overall
    ESPN, #13 RB, #126 overall
    Scout, #29 RB, #253 overall
The Ringer, #24 RB, #282 overall

Not surprising that Mizzell is participating in several events held by Rivals and now has an Army All-American Game Invitation.

Jake decided to play in the AA game over the UA game. I fully expect him to drop out of ESPN's top 50 receivers by NSD.

Would you call most of those seniors extremely talented? There were three or four great seniors in that class. The rest were productive, but hardly what you would call elite. Regardless, no I wasn't talking about his 2007 class. I was talking about his 2008 and 2009 classes. They were horrendous.

they made up the corp of the two deep that won the NC , i would call that productive .
and i doubt Tubsters 09 Red Raider Class would have been eligible to play at Auburn .

which then would leave only 08 i believe but Tubs is gone & minus a NC that "his" players
were able to win albeit for another HC, if things go as expected by most the new staff will
have three 7-5 regular season slates in four seasons at the helm.

before i blamed a NC winning class & a moot 08 class i would consider the 50+ % fail rate
of the past few seasons on te trail for the lack of depth at hand .

but i realize that is just one possible senario blank

The 2009 Auburn class was all Tubbs'. Chizik wasn't on the job long enough to put that on him. To say any different is ignorant at best, and being purposely disengenuous at worst. Chizik caught a pretty bad break with the 2010 class. Cam turned in to a star and left early, Dyer turned in to a head case and transferred, three guys decided to become stars on America's Most Wanted, and one of our best players got cancer. Shit happens. However, I'm not sure where you're getting the 50% fail rate over the last few seasons. I'm pretty sure we've gotten EVERY recruit to qualify the past two seasons. Auburn also doesn't have a lack of depth. They have a full, or very close to full roster, for the first time since Chizik showed up on campus. What they have is a lack of upperclassmen.

the problem hasnt been the enroll rate its been the "stick" rate for a vast ranging list of reasons.

I can't argue that. A lot of 2009 and 2010 players left early, and it's too early to tell what the attrition rates will be for the 2011 and 2012 classes. It's also too early to tell if that's a trend, or just a couple of unlucky years. In reference to your earlier post, there's no way Auburn goes 7-5 in the regular season this year. None.

Rivals is gone down the drain IMO, they base too much on camps and have early favorites. 247 and ESPN would probably be the top two for me, pre AA game for ESPN though.

This site bases everything off of camps.

    with a 3-0 start (?)
    4-2 after Ole Ms
    6-3 thru NMexSt
    7 comes at A-A&M

a loss in the opener could hurt the cause but otherwise i feel you guys can pull out 7 .

  • Can we have a damn thread that doesn't turn into this Auburn/Bama garbage?

Either post and discuss recruits that have a big disparity in their rankings, or gtfo of the thread.
