Going 1 for 32 is the definition of going ice cold. Seems to be seeing the ball a bit better these last 2 games, though. Brandon Phillips coming alive is the biggest reason for this great homestand, IMO.

You're right though, he is definitely a set up/closer type of pitcher

He's great as closer but I agree with you he should eventually start. There is a reason players like Feliz, Bard, Ogando, and CJ Wilson were tried as or moved to the rotation. It's the difference in your best pitchers throwing 190ish innings to 60-75. If you think the guy has a third pitch to go through a lineup three to four times you start him. If you think he is only a fastball/slider type can't hold his velo deep into games you have an All Star closer. Just think he is way more valuable throwing 3X the innings.

Not after he has TJ surgery to repair his arm from throwing 100 mph for 6 innings every 5th night. Then you don't have him at all.
Let him do what he does best. Set up/Close. He can have a long, successful career by doing those things. He will have a short career starting.

Well he can tear an ACL shagging fly balls too. Randy Johnsons arm was okay. Maybe take it down a notch or two and average in the mid 90s. Arms like his dont come around often and I think he could start. Every starter in baseball could throw harder in one inning spurts but they dial it down to maintain velo so they can last 100+ pitches.

Bruce looks like he's snapped out of it and Phillips is hitting too. Hopefully we can capitalize on this over the next few games.
Nice job of Homer going the distance tonight and letting the bullpen take the night off. Hopefully Cueto can get back on track tomorrow. I like our odds of taking the series with him going against Burnett. I also like the Braves' chances of handing the Cards another loss with Hudson on the mound.

When Bruce goes back to hitting to all fields and forgetting about becoming power hungry, he is a very good hitter. He seems to have become better at being disciplined at the plate beginning late last season. He still goes through some funks but at least he is able to recognize it and get back to basics.
I am really happy with Todd Frazier at 3B and the young catcher. Those two, combined with Cozart give the Reds some tremendous youth when you throw in Bruce, Votto, Stubbs and Heisey. The staff is coming around as well. Great performance by Bailey last night. If Leake can can become consistent then the staff has a chance to become very good. Latos and Arroyo need to cut down on the HR's.......always an issue with Arroyo.

Reds going for win #2 in the series against the Astros. Could be mistaken, as I haven't checked, but I think Latos is on the mound today. Team needs to keep it up, as the Cardinals are sputtering a bit.

Has it started yet? Trying to watch online since MLB TV won't let me watch it. Guess its on FOX tonight, but I get the Yankees vs. Tigers. I'm on firstrowsports.eu, but nothing showing up yet.
