Did you not just say you were in a similar situation and turned out okay?

I had great parents. Both made 6 figures. Didnt help me.

I got in a lot of trouble as a juvenile, ended up having to drop out of high school. I didnt ask for anyone's help, I worked and still work my ass off everyday.

I'm now 24, ops/marketing mgr for a global sat comms company. I own my own house and a BMW M5. Not because someone felt sorry for me, no hand outs here.

Work ethic, its sadly a missing component in today's society.

Edit: nvm I see that was someone else, either way. Its a decision you have to make. You either want to live a better life and do something about it, or sit back and go to waste. That's your decision, giving hand outs is only clouding judgement on said decision.

Again, this is middle class ideology. You fell from a certain life style that your parents provided you. This gave you the whereabouts to strive and get back on your feet. If your beginning is a roach motel and a 5th grade education, you would not be where you are. You owe your parents. Be greatful that you were the child of 2 parents that made 6 figures, and not the child of a jobless crackhead.

Those are good ideas but with out spending already our of control now is not the time to implement them.

We are shit broke and need to get back to only the basics.

We can cut spending in other areas, namely defense and Medicare/Medicaid. But the policies I'm talking about are basic policies that are not new. Obama has talked about it in his campaign and I hope he follows through on them because they would help improve the economy.

The problem has not been taxes. The problem has been runaway spending. Total federal spending has not dropped once in over 40 years—not once

If people cannot understand this, there is no hope for reaching them.

How far do you think those people can go through life working like that? Having a work ethic is great, but there are other factors that are going to prevent those in the lower class from significantly improving their lives in employment namely lack of education and training. While the world needs ditch diggers, there isn't a whole lot of career growth as a ditch digger. Most hourly jobs are like that, which limits their ability to work their way through a field. I mean a janitor at a hospital isn't going to become a doctor because they work at a hospital. Why not provide incentives for them so they can take night classes at the community college. Incentives like lower taxes, affordable education through assisted loans, etc. If you're a higher income individual, shouldn't you take pride that your taxes are helping your fellow Americans?

Those that want more, will do more. Sounds simple, because it is simple. You don't seem to realize how many people are content with digging a ditch, being a janitor, cleaning porta-potties...

I am not a believer in taking from one person to pay for someone else's night class at a community college, or anything else. Those that want more, will do more.

Ok, she probably might have her Mercedes in the shop though and might only be driving her 2013 Camaro around for now.

Could be. She would have worked hard for it.

5th grade education? .... public high schools are, well, public.

Only blame for dropping out of school is on the person dropping out.

Like I said, use your parents as motivation of what you don't want to be, ultimately it comes down to an individual choice to better oneself.

The problem with most libs is the inabililty to accept self accountability. Its always someone else's fault, yea? Therefore someone else should have to pay for the free hand outs and feel awful said person?

I don't know about your high school, but I went to public school here in AL and we had to pay a fair amount to do so... Lab fees for science classes, things like that.

Oh so cut pay to the people who defend our country. Those college educations will definitely work like body armor.

We need to cut things we don't need to survive.

You are taking a blue collar aproach on education. Education in America provides support to the freedoms that you enjoy as an American the same way the military does. Educated people build computers, jets, radar tech, etc. as well as lots of the luxuries you enjoy every day. Educated people provide medicines and expertise of the human body. Without education, the USA fails.

I'm not talking about the people who are content with their jobs. They have reached the level they want to succeed at, so they have the highest level of job satisfaction and probably do it better than they would if they weren't content.

I'm talking about the people who don't want to be janitors, but are forced to because of their limited education. How can they become doctors if they can't afford the education to become a doctor? Why should we tell that kid, you can't become a doctor, not because you aren't smart enough, but because you can't afford it. But we'll allow the kid from a rich family who is an average student to become a doctor because his parents donate to their alma mater.

I completely disagree that work ethic is all you need in life to reach your potential despite socioeconomic status, so we'll have to agree to disagree.

She does her minimum to get her minimum. As I think you are smart enough to know, she could make more, but that would require her to do more work. That doesn't sound like it will be happening anytime soon.

My mom worked two full times jobs and a part time job as well, and yet wasn't able to move up the ladder, guess she was a lazy no-good leacher who just loved that $200 in food assistance to feed an entire family of 4.

Funny, only 60% of white voters in the same state voted for Romney. You missed the point, and only whites are Republicans? Mr. Cain missed that memo.

U missed the point. Cain is not the norm in the republican party.

90% of repubs are white. That is why you can't win. You grab 60% of white people and nobody else.

Dems grab 40% of whites and everybody else. Changing demographics have proven this to be an easy win.

So you're saying the majority of dem politicians are black? Lmao, fail.

The majority of politicians in general are white. Hence the massive black turnout to vote for the first black president.

They dont realize that: 1. Ron Paul would've demolished obama in this race. Simply destroyed him and stole the entire youth vote. Embrace TRUE conservatives. 2. Please let go of the bible issues. Religion is becoming less of a voting factor daily 3. Only reaching out to white males doesn't provide any real path to winning the electoral college. Sure you'll enthuse your states, but you cant win. White males are loud on the internet but that's about it. 4. America still thinks bush caused the problems

Not totally crazy about Paul but I agree with all of your points. Hopefully they took note of this on the election results.

Would have helped to grab a larger % of the other demographics.
