Goodness. There is no way you're a college graduate.

    Really? Please enlighten me.

So the black vote wasn't massively swayed by the presence of a "black" candidate?

You'll probably take this personally and think I am ass, beyond what you thought before, but why should I have to work to pay for the situation your mom or anyone else is in?

Never understood why people thought we should punish people that were successful in life.

How about our gov't control their pointless spending and use the money they are saving to help poverty in this country.

Exactly. Whose irresponsible decision was it to bring four children into a household which clearly couldn't afford them? Wasn't mine.

5th grade education? .... public high schools are, well, public.

Only blame for dropping out of school is on the person dropping out.

Like I said, use your parents as motivation of what you don't want to be, ultimately it comes down to an individual choice to better oneself.

The problem with most libs is the inabililty to accept self accountability. Its always someone else's fault, yea? Therefore someone else should have to pay for the free hand outs and feel awful said person?

So all poor people are bad people. Is that what I'm gathering?

Well if not all poor people are bad people that means some of them are good people that just happen to be poor. There are a multitude of reasons why they may be. So if that's the case, your money would be going help someone who is poor, not necessarily someone who made bad choices. Which is why I asked if you thought all poor people were bad people, because you insinuated all poor people are so because they made bad decisions.

    Basically.

People who never went through that kind of life will never understand, but their parent's parent's parent's went through it, so that means they automatically know what that kind of life is.

So just "hard work" doesn't make you rich?

And who the hell said that you were the paying for the assistance? Pretty sure that taxes came out of her checks just like they did yours.

Until YOU personally live that kind of life, then you have no idea.

Great point. If anyone gets sick and can't afford health care, they should just die. Only the strong should survive, right? No reason to pay for the situation that someone else is in.

Wonder how many people with this view point also consider themselves Christians and America a Christian nation? We all know Jesus didn't help the poor or unfortunate . . .

Michigan State does not and will not run the 3-4 defense.

How did you two come to that conclusion based off of what he or anybody said?

Should I assume that you don't know what it is like to work and have the money you earned taken and given to someone else? I would be wrong, as you are wrong assuming no one here had struggles growing up and/or taking care of their family.

Why should the government decide who deserves my help? I'll take care of me and my own, you take care of yours.

I didnt once insinuate that poor people are bad. Just because I came from parents with decent money doesn't mean I never struggled.

I was on my own before I was even an adult, poor decisions landed homeless bouncing around from friends houses for a long time. I worked my ass off to get on my feet and paid (still paying) my own way through school.

That said, I donate to charities to help people in need. I still do not see why I should be forced to pay for other peoples' short comings.

Did I force this guys mother to have 4 children she clearly couldn't afford? How do you not avoid that after the first one.. or two. I have no sympathy for someone who continually makes poor decisions and holds a hand out to the govt.

So should we pull all aid because some people abuse the system even though many people are good people who could really use the help, or should we reevaluate the qualifications of the system so as to weed out those that abuse it? Don't let some bad apples spoil the barrel.

Hard work alone, no. Then you get into what is hard work. Digging a ditch, supervising the digging, designing the ditch... All can be considered hard.

So, the government took her money and then gave it right back. Sounds like a waste of money in the cost of handling the admin of that.

My life wasn't always rosy, I just don't bitch about the hard times.

Major overhaul, agreed. The issue is the current administration is an advocate of the opposite.

I do work for mine. I also care about people. The problem is you equate helping someone, a good person, who is trying their hardest and is in a bad situation with no money (maybe they're not that smart and being a janitor is the best they can do), with the government simply giving money to moochers. No one is saying give money to leaches; we're trying to get you to understand that there are plenty of poor people that are doing all they can to make ends meet. They need help. There's nothing wrong with needing help.

And if it should come to pass that you can't take care of yourself and your own, well, that's too bad, right? Your family should starve.

Got no problem with your philosophy, as long as you admit you're going to have a lot of starving, dying people all around America. Oh, and if your business/employment goes south? Well, you just maybe joining them. But hey, that's what you want, right? Law of the jungle; only the strong survive.

Just making sure I understand you correctly that you have 0 sympathy for anyone that falls on hard times, regardless of the reason. You see no merit in social safety nets and everyone's margin of error should be 0.

I strongly disagree with this viewpoint, because it would lead to a very unstable society. I'd like to hear your argument as to why cutting everyone off from any type of social assistance would be good for the country.

So, we are dealing in absolutes?

You're ok with everybody quiting work and having the government pay for their housing, food, phone, transportation, health...

I don't have all the answers, but I am open to listening to ideas. Giving people money for nothing, isn't a plan I can get behind.

Do they need help, or do they need to live within their means? To many people don't understand the difference.
