He had a commitable offer up until the second Junior Day (per Gerry H). That was a long time ago. Perhaps the original offer had something to do with his being a coach's son. When Texas quit recruiting Samples in February, it may have dawned on them that they weren't going to get him. Funny how that works. So, another moral victory for Aggy?

Last year their prize recruit opted for Tennessee, picking the Vols over A&M, because he wanted to play in the SEC. Texas didn't recruit him. Fast forward 6 months. Aggy is in the SEC and Texas struck out on some of their targets. Texas extends Santos a late offer and he dumps Tennessee, spurns Aggy and commits to Texas. That is just how things work.

Texas has a rich and storied football tradition. FSU was a mediocre program, when a brief period of great success, then back to mediocrity.
Texas has more than 100K fans at every game. FSU checking in with 71,000! Hey, that more than Kentucky (barely).
Texas is the number 1 brand in college football with more revenue than any other school. FSU has a progam riddled in debt that has to rely on boosters to pay operating expenses. I know you would like to think that having resources would guarantee success on the field. But that only works at Free Shoes U.
Texas has 4 national championships since 1962. How many does FSU have? Oh dear ... wide right!!
But enough about football, let's talk academics! Tier 4?? Errr, nevermind.
