Ricky Seals-Jones down to TAMU and LSU?

  • He decomitted, we were then still recruiting him. Had him on an unofficial visit I believe and hammered out all the basketball issues and concerns he was supposedly facing. Multiple times he said Texas was leading and that's where he wanted to end up but he wanted to keep his options open because he felt he rushed his original commitment.

The knee injury has nothing to do with it, we have three or four commits who have season ending injuries that are 1 still have an offer and 2 are still committed.

We haven't been told any specifics other than the staff got a bad vibe from the recruitment and felt it was better for everyone to go their separate ways.

Would I like to have him in burnt orange? Hell yes, but if the staff felt something wasn't right and backed out of it then it is what it is. It's happened before and it'll probably happen again. I'm happy with other WR targets we are pursuing.

What about the fact that a Texas booster paid someone off in his circle and when RSJ and some UT people got wind of it, they did whatever they could to separate them self from the situation.

Any comment on that or is the Kool-Aid too good to pass up nowadays?

  • The story here is that Texas got wind rsj was starting to lean towards a&m/lsu so Mack pulled his offer. Mack doesn't want his fanboys thinking he got beat out for a kid he really wanted.

Then you have the Geoff ketchums starting rumors about street agents and the bomc just laps it up.

  • it's not street agents, it's his aau coach, and that was the reason for the decommit in the first place.

i love the cut-and-run theory though, as if texas has never lost out on a recruit it pursued to the end.

"I don't know why, but it is what it is," Seals-Jones said. "I'm going to move forward, and they'll move forward, so I'll just find another school."

Chester said that Texas was still leading Ricky's list when the Longhorns dropped out of the race.

"I'll be honest with you," he said. "Texas was on top."

Haven't heard anything even remotely close to that and I kinda doubt you have either, unless its from an aggie or another LSU fan. If you can provide a link or any proof, post it. Otherwise, you're going all aggie like and trying to start rumors that are unsubstantiated.

  • It is very unusual for a school to publicly distance themselves from a prized recruit. Especially when they lead. I remember something similar happening with Albert Means. Texas just stopped recruiting him.

I am not calling the kid a cheater. I have no earthly idea. I am saying it is unusual for a program to back away in this fashion.

I'm still waiting for you to supply a link to a credible source claiming Texas boosters paid anyone associated with RSJ money.

  • Why would it matter what offense LSU or aggy have? RSJ's best position is not WR.

That said, it sucks that Texas is no longer recruiting him, but Texas will be fine. It should be noted this isn't the 1st time Texas has pulled away from a 5 star kid for the state, and I think the past shows that when Texas does pull away not everything is right with the recruitment.

The part where there is something suspicious going on. Heaven forbid a kid chooses not to play for Mack Brown, that automatically means he's dirty.

everything he said was dead on accurate. when texas distances itself from a top flight recruit, there's something going on behind the scenes they aren't comfortable with. why else would we cut bait w/ a kid that talented?
