Robert Foster to BAMA

What do you need to get into Alabama, GPA, ACT, SAT scores? just wondering.

I'm not 100% sure on this but I think a 2.0 GPA and 18 ACT for athletes. I don't know if it's different for regular students but I think I remember reading that once.

I went to college up in Indiana so not real sure.

Bama sent josh McNeil all the way to a new high school in New York to try to get him qualified. I'd say Saban was willing to take some risks on him

wrong. josh graduated early in order to go to prep school. he had already decided to do that before he committed to Bama.

I was a freshman in '06 and I had a buddy get in with a 20 ACT so it's not *that* hard. One of my sister's friends got in on probation with a 18 or 19 two years ago. I wish they would raise the requirements to get in honestly. People can rip us all they want but we have as many Rhodes scholars/national merit scholars as anyone year in and year out and that is a fact.

Oh I know you weren't, but someone somewhere on TBB at this very moment is making an inbred, kissing cousin, etc etc joke. Unfortunately, it is what it is.

WVU is ranked 30th when it comes to Rhodes Scholars with 24 of them. Pretty proud of that.

  • The requirements are different for athletes everywhere. In fact on the ACT they take an accumulative score...I had a 20 on the ACT, but as an athlete is had a 23. I took it 3 times, and they take the highest for each subject from all of them if it is an athletic scholly, atleast thats how it was in 2006

You're preaching to the choir, mane. I stil lwished we had added WVU to the SEC instead of Mizzou. Unfortunately, Slive really wanted all the senior citizens visiting Branson on bus tours on weekends to be able to watch SEC football instead. headslap

not trolling here but will this kid even qualify?

Everything i've heard all year indicates no..Bama doesn't really care if he does or not, everyone knew the TE they had committed wouldn't either. Seems like Alabama failed him too from his comments after visiting LSU...These kids need to do more research when choosing a school and not buy into every coaches recruiting pitch. I'm at the point that I no longer feel bad for the kids when a school/coach fuks them over.. Massington is another one that bought into LFK and was pushed away at the last minute...

  • Must say Im surprised. Congrats to Bama hope the kid qualifies and straightens his life up.

    Wait?

You are blaming the college coaches and their "recruiting pitch" for failing a kid that can't get himself qualified into a division one school by NCAA standards? What does it matter what school they chose? It's up to them to get themselves qualified. If the NCAA says they don't cut the mustard, they don't cut the mustard.

Your statement literally makes no sense whatsoever. I typically get along with you as a poster but WTF are you talking about?

If you mean by sent, Saban told him and his family that would be the best for him to become eligible then yes. Later, it was found out that he and his high school counselor mislead Alabama on what requirements he still had to go and his scholarship offer was pulled.

The kid is more than likely still going to qualify and probably end up at LSU, FWIW.

    What are you talking about?

McNeil's family and high school counselor lied about what he had left. When they got a progress report from his new high school showing what they kid actually still needed, his scholarship was pulled.

  • OSU fans, I'm just warning you.

All this shit that you talk about the motives and antics displayed by SEC schools and how they recruit is going to come back to bite you in the backside. You guys have bashed us SEC schools more than any other school off the top of my head and you are going to have some serious crow to eat. Urban Meyer was the most notorious recruiter that the SEC had in his time in this conference. You think he's going to change the way he recruits now that he's in the big X?

    roflmao

That would be a no. At least we don't cry about it like you Big X babies do. As long as it's not against NCAA rules then all is fair. You'll be calling the rest of the Big X crybabies soon enough, trust me.

  • Ohio St is like the girl that looked good at her senior prom but gained her freshman 20 and noone pays attention to her anymore. She doesnt want to look at herself in the mirror to see how fat she has gotten but still thinks she could be hot. Enjoy it up there in the Big(nobody cares)10 buds. Meyer will walk to Tuscaloosa if Saban ever leaves btw

Seems sour that he backed off Ohio St, IMO.

Actually, there was something that happened when he visited Columbus I believe that somewhat made OSU sour on him. Rest assured, I'm not a fan of OSU and I take liberties ripping that fan base and its head coach apart, but I'm not sure Robert Foster to Columbus was ever going to happen from OSU's standpoint. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong.
